After the incident, Jaehee couldn't bring herself to contact Doyoung at all. She wasn't sure what was stopping her, the girl was confused with her own feelings.
The kiss they shared would constantly repeat in her head involuntarily. She felt haunted by it, but still she couldn't give a definite answer.
She told no one, not Aeri and not even her own mother. She didn't know what to say, she hadn't decide yet but she knew she couldn't leave him hanging for long. It wasn't fair.
Eventually, Jaehee ghosted him. She was too afraid to confront her own feelings and somehow it all got mixed up with her finals. They grew a little distant as both were too busy for the semester.
Doyoung on the other hand, tried his very best to make her stay. He didn't want to go astray and he couldn't easily forget about her either.
Though he was also caught up with his studies and work, he would find time to visit her from time to time. Jaehee appreciated his gestures, it somehow worked against her.
However, little did they realise, summer already came. Their little push and pull game was stretched through out a whole season. That was when Jaehee finally decided that she had to give him an answer before it was too late.
"Jaehee, customer!"
Taeil's voice rang in her head. Jaehee focused her eyes on the touchscreen instantly, waiting for the customer to say his order. She didn't even bother to look at the male in front of her.
"What would you like?" Jaehee asked, repeating her script. "Jee, don't you recognise me?" He asked. The named girl blinked a few times before focusing her gaze on the male in front of her. The nickname was the trigger. At first, it seemed like someone she bothered not to know. Unfortunately, the smile he put on was something she knew too well.
"Jaehyun!"
A grin stretched across her face. Unfortunately, Jaehee had to proceed with his order first before they could stop and chat as she had a few more customers lining up behind him. Jaehyun told her he would wait before he left and took a seat at the corner.
After she was done with the few others, Jaehee turned to Taeil next to her. "You and your boyfriends." He slightly rolled his eyes and sighed before Jaehee could even ask. "He's my cousin, pea brain." She stuck her tongue out at him before removing her apron to approach the other male.
Jaehyun flashed a smile at her as she took a seat across him. "When did you arrive?" She asked. "Yesterday, I'm staying in Seoul for two days before I get to my parents'." He replied. "How'd you know I work here?" The girl questioned again.
"I didn't, I'm just that lucky." He grinned. "How's your studies?" Jaehyun chuckled as soon as his cousin rolled her eyes at his question. "We don't talk about that during summer break." She replied. The male offered her some of his food but Jaehee politely reject as she wasn't hungry anyway.
However, that didn't stop her from taking his drink. "Does Aunt Yona knows you're back?" She asked and the male shook his head. The two ended up laughing as they knew how his mother would react when he appears out of the blue.
Jaehyun was a social science student, studying in LA. According to him, he was one of the popular students as he was a star basketball player. He was an only child like her, and their childhood was full of them acting like normal siblings.
Jaehee wasn't sure if he knew that she was adopted but it never stopped both of them from caring for each other. He had been around her ever since she could remember.
Jaehyun suddenly reached out his hand to her with tissues and shoved it to her mouth. It was only then she realised she had whipping cream on her lips. "Are you done with work?" He asked. At that moment, Jaehee looked over at the counter and made a face to Taeil. The elder male rolled his eyes before nodding his head.
