The girl was surprised to see him standing there. It was 2 in the morning. There were words left unsaid between them but neither of them utter it. Jaehee thought it was now or never to let him go, and so she wanted to shut the door but then Doyoung stopped her.
"Doyoung, don't do thi—"
"Jaehee, listen to me. Please." He pleaded, sounding drunk, and her heart softened instantly but she refused to show it. Still, Jaehee wanted to shut the door but he suddenly used all of his strength to push the door. And now, he ended up standing in her apartment.
He reeked of alcohol. She didn't remember him being much of a drinker, he barely finished a glass when they first met at the bar the before.
"I'm sorry." He paused.
"I know it fixes nothing but I need you to know that I regret for not trusting you. I'm sorry Jaehee, I had everything for a while and I looked past it, I didn't appreciate you and now I completely lost you." He looked right in her eyes and Jaehee knew he meant it, but she didn't know why she couldn't accept his apology so easily.
She broke up with Yuta before and honestly she felt nothing after seeing him, but there was still something lingering left for Doyoung. Which was why she felt so angry when she saw him.
Jaehee cherished things, people too much. She held onto so many things and rarely did she ever let go. She still forgave Yuta even after all the bad things he did to her. It took her half a year to get over him, and it was even harder for her to forget about Doyoung.
Two years had passed and Jaehee couldn't bring herself to completely erase him. She pushed it aside, run away from confronting her longing for him but he was always there. She could never forget him.
"Go home, you're not being yourself. I don't want to talk about it." Jaehee looked away, her heart was beating wildly as she was nervous she might either cry or scream at him.
There was a brief silence between them as both weren't sure what to do or what was bound to happen next. "Jaehee." He pleaded, causing the girl to shut her eyes. She was becoming soft and she prevented herself from showing it. "Doyoung, please." She said, her head turned away.
She couldn't afford herself being haunted by his apology, she had to toughen herself up and reject him. It was better this way. After all, there would only be bad blood between her and his mother.
As if time stopped, they stood there for a while with complete silence. Doyoung said nothing but simply looked at her. His tall figure would fit perfectly if he were to embrace her.
He slowly raised a hand, cupping her cheek softly. Jaehee was surprised by the sudden touch, but she couldn't fight herself to pull away. Instead, she was pulled into an endless enigma as she looked at him in the eye.
"You're so beautiful." He found himself chuckling as he stroked her face with his thumb. "I'm the dumbest person ever to let you go." He softly said, his eyes showed nothing but sorrow and regret. He slowly put his hand down, admitting defeat at last.
She didn't know what took over her but she wanted no regrets. Jaehee grabbed him by the face and pulled him down to her before she kissed him right on the lips. Doyoung had no time to act surprised, he was going to savour the kiss incase it was their last one. He missed her too much to even think the consequences of their actions.
