"Jaehee, why are you—"
The named girl put one finger to her lips, motioning for Taeil to shut up. She knew how much of a mess she looked like. She bothered not to talk about how much of a mess her life was at the moment.
After Yuta answered that call from Doyoung, the girl didn't have to ask what he said. She saw the photo he sent to Doyoung as well. The click she heard from last night wasn't imaginary, Yuta freaking set her up but she had no proof.
So, why was she at work instead of dealing with her relationship?
Simple, it would all be useless. Doyoung wouldn't listen to her. He refused to answer her calls, plus his mother made a warning to leave him alone or else not only her, but Doyoung and her family would pay the price. It was a total chaos, she decided to run away from it. Jaehee knew it wasn't the right thing to do, but she needed the most comfort she could find at the moment. And that was, surprisingly, Taeil.
The elder had his eyebrows furrowed, it was Jaehee's day off but here she was. "You know you're not on—" "Taeil," she gritted her teeth. "Customer." She pointed to some people waiting by the counter. Though she said Taeil was her serenity but the girl had her ego as well. When she cooled down, she would want to talk to Taeil.
Taeil knew something was off but he rather not test her wrath. The day went on in silence between the two. Taeil was patient, he knew she'd come to him sooner or later, but there wasn't an appropriate time yet. Just as Jaehee was busying herself by the empty counter, she noticed something outside the cafe.
A familiar car parked outside, a car she had seen so many times. However, it could be anyone's. Doyoung wasn't the only one to own it. That was what she thought, until she saw a familiar figure heading towards the vehicle. This was her chance, instantly, she stormed out of the cafe.
"Jae—"
Taeil didn't need to ask, he could foresee what was about to happen. Jaehee called out Doyoung's name, she didn't know if he simply didn't hear her or he purposely ignored her. It ticked her off, but it was his rights after last night. Still, the girl didn't care if people was watching, she had to talk to him.
"Doyoung—" Jaehee grabbed him by the forearm, but he lightly pushed her hand away. The first crack, to her heart. Doyoung said nothing but gave her a blank look before turning away. "Doyoung listen to me." Jaehee wanted to grab him again but she didn't want to have him pushing her away again. She was too fragile to go through another breakup.
Instead, she leaned against the car, preventing him from entering. "Nothing happened with me and Yuta, we— I didn't kiss him because I love—"
"But you kissed him, didn't you?"
He stopped her. A second crack, for her fragile heart. Still, Jaehee masked how afraid she was with a failed stoic exterior. She knew she had to speak if she wanted him to stay. However, Jaehee couldn't come up with an excuse for what she did.
She did him wrong, she was wrong for even calling Yuta to meet up. She was at fault for kissing him as a form of closure. She was wrong for not being able to move on from a guy who feed on lies and games.
"You don't understand. That was the only way I had to make him stop. He wouldn't leave me alone. I was—"
"It doesn't matter, Jaehee. You kissed him, and you never did to me." He looked her right in the eyes and Jaehee felt a huge shatter in her heart. "No, please. Don't say this. You know that I don't love him." She was begging, but she noticed the look he was giving her.
They say the eyes are the windows to your soul and she saw that they had them shut. He didn't want any of her apology, nor did he want any of her anymore.
