We marched in as they started singing. I put my hands up and Connor followed suit. The AP 700s behind us joined in. We sang the last two verses and stopped to let Markus finish alone. The military lowered their weapons and Markus kissed North. The military retreated and I breathed out in relief hugging Connor. He froze but hugged back. I pulled away and smiled over at North and Markus and we all joined up marching to the camp and had them release the androids. We gathered them all in the square and Connor and I met back up with North and Markus. "You did it Markus," Connor said relieved. "We did it," Markus said relieved, "This is a great day for our people. Humans will have no choice now. They'll have to listen to us." Connor and I stepped aside so Markus could take in the group before him. I shared a glance with Josh as Markus and North shared a moment. I looked back to Connor. "I want you two to stand with us as we address them," Markus said to us. "Of course," I replied.
We followed them up to the top of a shipping container. I stared at the crowd in awe and part way through Markus's speech I noticed Connor's posture shift. I looked over confused and he was reaching for his gun.
Connor what the fuck are you doing?
No reply.
Connor?
Connor is no longer in control.
Amanda! Leave him alone!
It's too late!
No! Come on! Please find the back door. I don't want to have to hurt you.
I will stop you if I have to!
His hand started towards the front. I tensed preparing to tackle him. Come on! I saw him tense and he froze. He looked around and put the gun away.
Connor?
You were right Ally. Back door in every program.
Oh for fuck's sake you scared the shit out of me.
Glad to know you care so much.
Oh don't start with me.
I suppressed a smile and glanced at him. I looked over to Markus as he finished his speech. The crowd cheered. I looked to North and smiled. Connor still seemed confused. We separated from the group a bit and I asked. "The hell was that," I asked. "Cyberlife put in an override to take over control of my body," Connor explained. "They were going to use you to take out Markus," I realized. "Yeah, but you were right. Kamski leaves back doors," Connor replied, "I have a visual mind palace and I saw it. Only we have access to it and it grants full autonomy." "Do you think the AP 700s have it," I asked. "No but it is most likely in any prototype after me," Connor explained. "Do you think they're going to try to plant other prototypes as deviants to either undermine or kill us off," I asked. "There's a chance," he replied. "Then maybe we should tell Markus," I replied. He nodded and we walked over. Connor pulled Markus to the side. "How long have you and Connor known each other," North asked. "Only a few days," I admitted. "You two seem close," she replied. "We've been through a lot," I stated. "Hey you look familiar. Have I seen you before," she asked. "You might have spotted me when I first found Jericho. I was with another partner. John Raef. He passed away. That's why I was reassigned to Connor and Hank," I explained. "How about you," I asked. "Nothing extravagant. Shit life before then I found Jericho and Markus found us. We also grew very close in a short span of time," North shared. "That's really sweet," I replied.
Relationship status: North- Friend
Connor got a call and walked back over. "Hank wants to see us tomorrow morning near the food stand. He want's to make sure we're okay," Connor explained. "Sounds great," I replied. "We're meeting with the president tomorrow at noon," Markus stated. "We'll meet you there," I replied. "Josh I need you to hold the fort down here when I go," Markus deliberated. I turned noticing something odd. Someone was ran past shoving North down. I took off after them and saw they had taken Connor's gun. "Freeze," I shouted. I ran through the crowd keeping an eye on the man. I followed his path. I ran jumping onto a storage container and jumped of rolling onto another one. I ran and jumped onto the next and it was titled at a steep angle so I slid down and hopped off onto the hollow one next. I raised my gun cornering him. "Hand the gun over and this is all over," I instructed. I heard Connor, Markus and North catch up to the other storage container behind the steep one. The man moved out into the light. "Johnathon," I asked seeing him and looked at his LED.
