I looked around the large room. There were filing cabinets along all the wall. I spotted a set of rugged cabinets. A whole wall of them. I pulled up the hand held tablet and started opening files to rewatch memories. There was one uncorrupted from 2 years ago. I opened it.
"Simon hurry up," I said. "Why the hell are we going to a boat," he asked frustrated. "It's not just a boat. This is salvation for our people. We can finally be free," I argued.
That's the android I threw my arm at. The one that shot himself and traumatized Connor.
"How do we keep people out," he asked skeptically. "I planted a key. Only androids can scan and be led to the next clue to get you here," I said motioning to the bridge, "And I made sure there were other ways in just in case this breaks." "Alright. You're crazy, but this might actually work," Simon replied.
I pulled myself out of my head space hearing something about the news in the distance. "They're streaming the vote. Remember," North said. "Sorry I was just... remembering something," I said and walked with her meeting Connor and Markus. "Find anything interesting," Markus asked curiously. "I just keep ending up with more questions. There's a lot of holes with the corrupted files," I explained.
Connor... Did you see anything about Jericho in my memories?
Other than you and Raef finding it no. Why?
Never mind... It's not important.
I looked up to the projection and I could see Connor checking on me concerned from my peripheral. I watched intently as they started to bring out the papers. The voting started. One yes. Two nos. The next one voted yes. They kept voting yes. I looked to Connor. My mouth hung open in shock and excitement. "Oh my god," I muttered. I heard North laugh excitedly. I watched as the rest all voted yes. I screamed out in excitement and turned hugging Connor. He spun me. "We did it," I shouted once on the ground. I had started jumping. I stopped covering my mouth smiling wide. "We fucking did it," I restated. I jumped and hugged North as she ran over excited. She went to do a victory lap. I turned to Markus. I smiled trying to contain myself. "You've made history Markus," I said. "We all did," he replied humbly and looked to Connor warmly. Markus had to prepare a speech for the androids.
"Hey are you okay," Connor asked. I wiped my face. "I'm just so fucking happy and relieved," I replied. I hugged him again. I held on as tightly as I could. I let go smiling.
Incoming: Joint call DPD
I looked to Connor and we both answered walking a bit off from the cheering as Markus finished the speech.
"Hello," I asked. "Connor, Alessa... How would you two like to have your jobs back at the Detroit Police Department. You'll be payed a salary like human workers and will still get to work with Hank on suicide and homicide," Fowler's voice offered. I looked to Connor and nodded. "That sounds fantastic," Connor answered. "I would absolutely love to," I added. "Can you start tomorrow," Fowler asked. "Yes," I replied quickly. "Yeah sounds great," Connor answered. "Can't wait to have you two back. Don't tell Hank it's a surprise," Fowler added. "Got it," I replied. We said a brief farewell and hung up.
We walked back out to the crowd. I looked up as a shipment of two crates lowered. I walked over and helped Markus, North, and Josh in fixing the other androids. By the time morning came all the androids could function on their own as normal. "We have to head out. Fowler offered us full time paying jobs in homicide," I said to Markus. "Go on. Congratulations," Markus replied. I smiled back nodding and walked over to Connor. "You ready," I asked excited. He smiled back as we called a taxi. We walked into the police department and walked into Fowlers office. He had us stand where the door opens after giving us our badge and gun. Hank was called in and he trudged in grumbling. "What!? The fuck do you want now Jeffery," Hank asked. "Turn to meet your partners," Fowler said. Hank turned confused. We smiled at him. "The fuck is going on," Hank asked. "The first androids to be paid a human salary at the Detroit Police Department. We're making history after they made history. They're two of the brightest minds this precinct has met aside from your own," Fowler stated. Hank smiled and hugged us. "Thank god. If I had to suffer through Reed's bitching for one more day I'd off myself," Hank teased.
