The perfect hue of green,
The perfect curve of skin,
Such a beautiful scene,
Eloquent words of the love-sick,
Monologues of Shakespeare's lovers,
Oh, you are every song,
A hymn to last forever.
Love is such a foolish game,
But I don't mind playing,
As long as I'm playing for you,
And we can forget everything,
Every last word,
That cut like a knife,
Oh, wouldn't it be lovely,
If it were you for the rest of my life?
Well, let's be honest,
Frankly I'm scared to death,
We're hanging on the edge of the abyss,
And we're falling further with each breath,
But at least we have each other,
Even if we don't survive the fall,
And we'll always have that summer,
The one I love most of all,
That long summer with cold nights,
It was something bright,
Oh, it was charming, Darling,
Holding your hand for the first time,
Those brilliant moments,
And all those dazzling walks,
All those laugh-filled calls,
And those endless talks.
It's rather lovely,
Our little romance,
Maybe it's a broken story,
But it's a beautiful dance,
And I can't help,
But to smile at your name,
And I can't help,
But to wonder if you do the same,
I want to be your first and last,
Maybe I'm asking too much,
I want to be your last first love,
Maybe that's not meant for us,
But, it'd be lovely, Darling,
To find out if we can, after all,

And survive all the pitfalls,
This whole tragic story,

And I wouldn't miss anything.
