Afterwards...

The Levi squad was called to gather together in a meeting. The squad members were unaware of the reason why they were needed. Then they remembered that it was once mentioned by Captain Levi that there might be a possibility that an expedition is coming soon.

As it is, they assembled in the dining room and took a sit on the long wooden table, while Captain Levi was already prepared just waiting and in the same time making himself busy. He was just sitting at his chair, while reading the paper works he's holding leaving his untouched tea in front of him. Petra was also there standing behind Levi's chair joining the meeting as if she is part of the squad already or some kind of assistant of the captain. Mikasa as usual always sits between Eren and Armin, while Jean, Connie and Sasha was sitting at the other side. Commander Hanji was also sitting on the opposite side of Levi's position.

In a brief silence, everyone sat there just waiting for Captain Levi or Commander Hanji to speak. Nothing to do much... Mikasa just stared constantly at him that she noticed that Captain Levi seemed to look paler than usual. He also seemed to wear a thicker jacket than before. She felt unsettled observing this.

Sooner then, Hanji broke the dull atmosphere with an eager attitude, "Hey everyone! Thank you for coming. As you can see we're here to confer about the upcoming expedition."

"I hope you guys have an idea why we're all here.", he said as he uttered a cough after that. "We're having an expedition in a few days later. It was already confirmed and announced by Commander Erwin Smith to Hanji and me." As Mikasa heard Levi's disturbing cough, he appeared weak for some point. His voice tend to sound lower and softer.

Hanji then added in continuation,"Yes, the mission's objective is not yet that clear, but we all know that for each expedition and for each mission the survey corps revolve around one of the following tasks. It's either defeating a select number of titans, protecting a location or group of allies, or surviving for a certain time limit." Afterwards, she discussed things further and started sharing her views and impressions with the squad. Levi also blathers in between her discussion sometimes to add details as well, while the squad members listens attentively.

In the whole period, Mikasa was looking at Captain Levi persistently as if she was finding something. She kept staring at his face and many thoughts begun to pop up in her mind. Hearing one cough from another, she wanted to ask and ensure if Captain Levi's health is fine, but there was limited space for her to talk, especially that Commander Hanji chatters a lot.

"In this expedition, I want everyone to stick with me and regard my orders as priority..", he said as a commandment and started coughing second by second.

"Sir--", she uttered softly as she felt enough confidence to ask and show concern. Howver, Petra interrupted and asked the same question, "Sir, are you alright?". Levi coughed another slight one and responded, "Yes.. I'm fine." As he continued with his talk.

Mikasa felt a bit down and disregarded this first to listen further.

After several minutes, the meeting was finally over.

"You are dismissed." , Captain Levi declared to them as he held his paperwork up to scan some parts in it. Without further ado, everyone left their chairs and stepped out of the room except for Mikasa. She was still sitting on her chair with a small frown shown on her lips. Armin glanced back before leaving the room and wandered for a bit.

Levi held his paperwork down to see Mikasa slightly looking at him with a somewhat gloomy expression in a way that it's adorable. He stared back for a few seconds and thought,"Hard headed brat.." He got his tea and finished it giving Mikasa a few seconds to go along with the squad members outside.
