The lights dimmed.

The room went quiet.

A constant buzzing sound began to ring as the cage rose from the ground.

Thud.

The sound resonated through the no longer silent room as the mechanisms locked in place.

And the spotlights switched on.

Now, that sounds like an introduction to a hella creepy movie. But no, no horror films for me. No horror films for anyone after all those zombies. Unfortunately, my literary skills are being used to describe something different. Not something from the horror genre, but the action genre. And like all fights, this one was long and tiring and bloody.

Skip all the dramatic entrances and the chit-chat, and let's get back to reality. It had been a week since the zombie simulation (in which I am still salty about that backstabbing), which meant that tournaments were starting again. More importantly, the Emerald tournaments. There were only three left, and it was no longer just sudden death. The trainers were watching and judging and seeing who gets to reach Sapphire not by who wins and who loses, but technique, skill, and ability.

Lucky me, I got to Emerald. For me, it was slightly more simple, managing to outsmart Camellia and use her agility and hyperactivity to my advantage, knocking her out with a swift kick in the stomach after I had tired her out. Unlucky me, because my fight was the first one of the previous Gold tournaments, I was the first one to fight for Emerald.

The other two to get in were Abby and Alpha, which I wasn't surprised about. Abby had to beat Lia twice, once in Topaz, and once in Gold when Lia was given the chance to redeem herself. Too bad for her, Abby remained victorious throughout. Alpha probably had it simpler, but with a bigger challenge and more hype about his match. Since there was only allowed three people in the finally Emerald rank, well, two after a victor was decided to be Sapphire, the boys who won their first fight in Gold had to fight to reach Emerald.

Alpha had beaten Evan, speed over strength, while Elliot had beaten Jason almost humiliatingly in only about three minutes. Guess all those work out sessions hadn't worked out that well for Jason. That had lead to the highly anticipated Elliot versus Alpha battle, with a couple of guys (ahem, Martin, Adrian, Jay, ahem) giving me winky faces and pointing at the two boys in the cage.

A couple of them ended up finding out their entire suite had been trashed and several of their personal belongings were missing. Phones, laptops, desktops, headphones, all gone. Also with the same miraculous-ness, their water and air conditioning systems only had two settings: freezing cold and boiling hot.

I wonder how that happened?

The fight between Elliot and Alpha had been interesting, to say the least. Alpha was more of a boxer despite his lightweight frame - Elliot was more of a taekwondo person, although both of them did do taekwondo before all of this shït happened. Both of them were also the top two boys in our class in relativity to strength, speed, and skill.

Alpha was smaller, slower, weaker, but he made up to it in skill and determination. Elliot was bigger, faster and stronger but he lacked agility. Flexibility, sure, but with limbs that long you had to be a little slower to react in time. It was a pretty even match, so EVERYBODY was there to watch it. Everybody.

Alpha had started first, of course. It was a bit predictable with that boy nowadays, and I was surprised that no one else was picking up on his methods. He ran towards Elliot, but instead of attacking, simply stood there, arms in front of his face, ready to punch. Elliot was obviously surprised, and let his guard lower, but that was all the time that Alpha needed to deliver two swift and sudden hooks to his head.
