Jason's pov
Change. That word comes off as scary to a lot of people. Having to change from what you're used to is a scary thing. Especially when you've done that thing for years. This gang has been apart of me forever now. It started with my father and I took over. Now, its time for me to take a step back. It's time for me to make the change that will protect me and the ones I love. I won't ever forget this. I won't ever abandon my gang. They're still family. They always will be.
"Alright, everyone. As you know, things have been hectic recently. We did win though" I said and everyone...I mean everyone started cheering. We're all gathered in the warehouse right now. I'm telling everyone what's going on from here. "Now, there's something that I need to do. I had a deal. Besides the deal though, this is something that needs to happen. For everyone's safety....I'm stepping down. I no longer will lead you guys with this gang" I said and everyone was shocked. "I'm not leaving you guys for good. I'll still always be here for you guys, but I can't do this anymore. There's too many problems that come with me. I put Tanner in charge of leading you guys. He's done a good job while I was gone and I trust him to continue. It's been great over the years. We've grown so much as a gang. I expect you guys to continue to grow as a gang and as people. Never show weakness. Not for anyone" I said.
It's quiet for a minute but then everyone starts clapping. I stand there feeling good about how I'm leaving things. I know Tanner will take good care of the warehouse and the gang. We've got a bunch of new members too. Everyone we saved became apart of our gang.
"Alright, now let's celebrate!" I said and everyone cheered. I smile to myself and then I walk over to Nova and she's smiling too.
"How's it feel to be retired?" She said.
"Noo, don't say retired. It makes me sound old" I said laughing a little.
"No, but I'm really proud of you. I love you" She said and I kissed her.
"I love you too" I said.
"Nova....Jason" Cameron said walking over to us.
"Hey" Nova said hugging him and I gave him a smile.
"I just want to say thank you again for giving us all a place in your gang. I don't think I ever can repay you guys for what you did" He said.
"Don't worry about it. Just keep everyone safe. Do what's right" I said and he nodded.
"Am I gonna see you guys anymore?" He said.
"Of course! This isn't the last of us" Nova said.
"Good" Cameron said grinning then he walked away.
"Oh jeez, what time is it?" I said.
"Almost 6" She said.
"Shit, I gotta go. I gotta meet with the sheriff" I said.
"right! Okay, remember he's helping you. Change is good" She said.
"Change is good" I said flinging my arms up and she laughed a little. I smile then I turn and leave the warehouse. I hop into my car and I drive off to the sheriff's station. This is the start to my new life. This is the start to my happy ending.
