(a/n: brace yourselves. It's long.)

Reader's POV:

Since arriving back in the city Doug and yourself walked around for a bit as you ate and recuperate from biking.

"Hey, Doug. When is the first time you saw me? The exact moment." You question as you're strolling along a pier.

"Hm." He momentarily glances up at the infinite blue. "I think it was sometime in the Winter...December? No, January?" He ruffles his hair a bit with a hard thinking face.

"Winter." You laugh as he looks to you with relaxed features now.

Laughing, "Yeah, Winter. I was heading to the Clinic for some meds. I don't know what for anymore, but that's where I saw you." He says.

Now you were in Doug's place, making a puzzled expression as you ate your food.

Clinic?......Winter? Eh...?

"I went inside and you were there chatting up the Doc. You gave him a bag of something. Whatever it was he was happy."

Gasping aloud, "Ah! I remember! I was.....kind of flirting. Eh-heh!" you give a sheepish giggle.

"I know. I was annoyed. I just wanted to go home, but Theo ignored me and Nina wasn't around. I didn't want to go empty-handed, so I just waited." He comes to a halt, as do you, having reached the end of the wooden planks.

"I don't remember you much. Sorry about that." A smile graces your lips. "But the first time I saw you, you brought a kid to the orphanage. One that hangs out with my favorite little teen, Enis."

"Oh yeah. I remember. That kid was stealing from a store. I think his name was Joe."

You nod in response. "That's right. Joe and Kaden are pains in the ass. I just can't see how sweet and sensible Enis got tangled up with them."

Doug frowns a bit. "You know, that kid likes you, right?"

"No way!!" You wave off that suggestion. "That kid is just naturally a sweet boy."

"I'm a guy. I know better." He sideglances at you.

Giggling, "You're not jealous, are you?"

"Of course not." Doug replies, staring out at the sea. "But it's probably for that reason that he told me everything. Now I just want to hear everything from you."

Having gone silent for a second, you could feel his burning gaze. You didn't dare look back though.

If I tell him now, shouldn't it be okay? It's not like he can just teleport back to kill them... But what will he do with that info once I tell him??

Having noticed that you stopped speaking, Doug clears his throat a bit. To break you from your thoughts he deviated the conversation back to another.

"You know, when you're in an orphanage, you're drawn to who you can relate or deal with. That's probably what it was like for that kid, Enis. "He pushes a few locs out his sight. "At least that was my case, but I didn't have to stay long--- thankfully."

As you start to dig around in your pocket, you give a questionable stare. "You stayed at an orphanage?"

He nods. "Yup. That one in particular. Have you never took a good look at the pics hanging around the place? I'm in one."

Shaking head, "No. I'll have to check it out.", you slip a cigarette between your lips

"Bet twenty bucks you won't figure out which was me." Doug grins a bit. "I look way different from then."
