Ch 3 Part 5:Pain

BRING ME TO LIFE - EVANESCENCE

Randy's POV

The two packs looked at him with pure panic and sadness, even though people were outraged by the way he had been treated, they all knew that him leaving and rejecting Seth would be the end of the pack. Since the transfer of power had already been completed, Seth was now alpha and even if the previous alpha and luna could continue being the pillars and glue keeping the pack together and strong, they were getting older meaning they were getting weaker and ultimately, Seth had all the power.

His mom stepped forward, "Are you sure about this? As your mother it breaks my heart to think of what happened to you but the pack does need you and I just can't lose my baby," she cried out.

Seeing his mom in pain was one of his weaknesses and if she continued crying, he would stay. Damn it all to hell, he would stay for her even if it meant his own peace and happiness.

It had begun raining outside but as if nature understood how disconcerting the situation was, it had decided to come down in a gentle pouring, as if to wash the pain away and bring tranquillity to the situation. He had always had a love for rain, it seemed to bring him peace like no other, a calm he couldn't find elsewhere. It brought forth memories of a better time, a past he had long since come to terms with in a way. He could almost feel the rain on his skin, gently caressing him like a lover would. The wind whispering sweet nothings in his ears, for a moment he had long since been lost in his memories, being transported to a place only he could ever touch.

He felt someone nudge him from behind. With a hand on his shoulder, the luna came into his line of view, "Randy dear, I apologise for failing you. It was my responsibility to ensure that everyone in the pack felt safe, at peace and at home. I should have been able to feel that something was wrong, I have not been a very good luna and I will have to live with that knowledge for the rest of my life but please, I beg of you, don't leave, please don't give up on us. As the other alpha/luna, you can bring change to the pack. You can do a better job than I did, I know that it's selfish of me to ask this of you but please don't add to my guilt by leaving."

There was pain I'd never heard in the luna's voice before and I could feel it in my heart. Alaistair was uneasy and restless, pacing in my head because he could feel his luna's pain and knowing that we were the cause of it was agitating. He was not very forgiving, you could say he was very vengeful but he also had a softness to him. He cared about his people and would go beyond and above to ensure their safety and peace. He hated Seth and Connor with a firing passion and felt betrayal from the teenagers. He couldn't abandon everyone though , they both couldn't, but they both knew that they were broken and that they were no use to the pack in the state they were in.

"I apologise for causing you such pain luna and I apologise to everyone too," he started slowly, taking huge gulps of air into his lungs, "but Alaistair and I are too broken to be any use to the pack. It would be completely reckless and selfish of us to lead anyone like this."

Time seemed to slow down, everyone lost in their own thoughts or guilt, seemingly unable to form words.

"Randy..." Luna paused to control her breathing, to keep her voice from quivering, "Nobody is ever broken beyond repair, give us this chance to be a proper pack to you and help you heal. Please, don't walk away from us, let us help you, let's all help each other. Let us be a proper pack, a proper family. Let the pain bring us together and forge a bond of strength, love and healing. You can't do this on your own, neither can we. You need us just as much as we need you."
