Summary:
"Let me help you with that," Jin says, reaching for his apron hanging off a hook on the wall.
"No, you're stopping right there." Jimin turns around with a sweet smile, knife pointed directly at Jin.
--
Jin comes home later than he'd previously expected, the night rapidly setting in as he unlocks the door and slips in. It's freezing outside, and even under the layers of warm clothing, Jin is shivering like a leaf in a storm when he enters the house.
Immediately, he's met with a pleasantly warm blast of air. He lets out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding and his lips curl into a smile.
Both Jimin and him hated the cold, so they'd made a deal that whoever came home first would turn on the house heating to get the house nice and toasty.
He sheds his coat and hangs it on the coat rack before he sits down to pull off his boots. There's music playing faintly through the house, and he can practically see Jimin swinging in time to the melody. He places his boots on the shoe mat knowing that Jimin would lock him out of the house if the slush from outside made a mess inside the house.
He walks towards where the music is coming from, loosening his tie and throwing it on the couch in the process. And sure enough, Jimin is there in the kitchen, swinging to the music as he chops up vegetables. He's humming along as well, voice low and quiet.
"What's cookin', good lookin'?" Jin asks, leaning on the doorframe with his hands crossed.
"I was thinking pasta." Jimin sings back without missing a beat.
"Let me help you with that," Jin says, reaching for his apron hanging off a hook on the wall.
It wasn't… the most appealing to look at, but Jimin had painstakingly sewn it for Jin's birthday some years back and Jin wears it as often as he can. It's stained and worn out. Jimin had even made the too part of it shaped like a heart to convey his love, which Jin found adorable.
"No, you're stopping right there." Jimin turns around with a sweet smile, knife pointed directly at Jin.
There's a table in between them, so there's not really much intimidation happening. Not to mention, Jimin was tiny compared to him, and couldn't hurt a fly if he tried.
Jin pauses, amused.
"You're resting today." Jimin says, lowering the knife a little.
"But it's not your day to cook, is it?" Jin asks, continuing to pull on his apron. He ties the ribbons behind his neck just as Jimin raises his knife again, pouting.
"That doesn't matter, I want to make dinner for us."
"I'll only help." Jin walks around the table to come to stand beside Jimin.
Jimin places the knife on the counter and waits for a moment before turning to Jin and pulling him down for a kiss. Jin lazily wraps his hands aroung Jimin's waist, smiling into the kiss as Jimin's hands move up from his apron to curl around his neck. Jimin starts playing with his hair there and Jin melts into the kiss, feeling completely at home.
And then Jimin carefully pulls off his apron and pushes Jin away with a gentle shove. There's a smug smirk on his face as he puts on the apron instead, because he knows full well that Jin doesn't cook without an apron on. And Jin remembers that the only other apron they had had been ruined in a recent incident involving the stove and an impromptu makeout session.
"Sorry, but I stand my ground firmly." Jimin saysz turning back to chopping vegetables.
Jin corsses his arms and pouts, trying his best to look like a kicked puppy. At this point, he isn't acting like this to be allowed to cook, but rather to see Jimin's reactions to his actions. And Jimin delivers, giggling, giggling at him.
Jin gives it up and rounds the table once again to sit down and watch Jimin. Jimin finishes up his chopping soon enough, and empties the chopped up vegetables into a saucepan that had been heating on the stove for a while. He lets it sizzle and walks up to the refrigerator, opening it and pulling out ice cream.
Ice cream?
"You got ice cream?" Jin asks, already reaching out for it. "In winter?"
"Both of us know you'll eat ice cream even when it's freezing out, so don't bring up the season." Jimin says, handing him fhe tub and a spoon. "But yes, I brought home ice cream because I had a bad day at work and felt like ice cream would make it better."
"Aww, baby, wanna talk about it?" Jin asks, pausing in his quest to open the tub, who's lid seems to be frozen closed.
"It's the same old song and dance about customer service sucking, when it was actually rhe customer sucking, so it's okay. I cheered up pretty quick." Jimin smiles reassuringly at him.
Jin nods, happy that Jimin was happy. He struggles with the lid for yet another minute before Jimin takes the tub from him and pops it off with ease.
"What-" Jin starts.
"It's not always strength, Jinnie, it's also technique."
"But... There is no technique involved in popping a lid off, surely,"
"There's technique in everything."
Seokjin decides to let it drop at that, choosing instead to stuff spoonfuls of ice cream into his mouth. Jimin continues sauteing the vegetables for a few more minutes before adding the sauce and then the pasta.
It smells really good, Jin notes.
"It's almost done. Should we have it here or on the couch?" Jimin asks as he switches the stove off.
"Couch. There should be some or the other mobie marathon going on, it's the weekend." Jin replies.
He puts the lid on the ice cream and Jimin takes it from him to put back in the refrigerator. He hands Jin their bowls and forks to take to the living room, before emptying the pasta out into a casserole and following Jin with it.
They curl up on the couch with bowls of pasta and watch whatever cheesy movie they find first. Jimin's curled up into him as close as he can physically get, seeking Jin's naturally warm body. They finish their dinner quick enough, before deciding that just making out isn't such a bad way to end their day when they're too tired to do anything else.
It's nice like this, with just the two of them
