Sakura
I can't help but giggle at the array of text messages Naruto sent me throughout my last lecture. My phone wouldn't stop buzzing in my pocket
I learnt a new song!!!!!!!!!
Sakura!!!!!
Come home soon, so I can play it to youuuu.
Shion will kill me if I grin any more! Help!!!!!!
Sakura!!!!
You are being a meanie!!!!
Since the time he realised that Shion had brought her guitar for him to learn, he has been like an energetic toddler. He didn't even wait for me today and headed straight to the apartment to hang out with and learn from Shion.
Tuesdays are usually the day he finishes his classes way earlier than me. He waits for me to finish my classes and then we head home together. I always thought it was ridiculous. Why would he want to wait a couple of hours more rather than going straight home after his classes. When I asked him, he acted offended and then just grinned with a shrug.
Today though, he didn't need any encouragement. In fact he was instantly ready to head home today. If I didn't know better, I would think he was avoiding our group altogether for some reason. He was fidgeting when he told me to head to college alone and that he would catch up with me later. After that, this text is the first sign, he is alive.
Even Hinata was curious about the baka and actually seemed down when he didn't show up before our first lecture.
I have noticed him being comfortable with our friends. Way more than he was with the band at the start. And more so with Hinata. I was surprised she knew about Jiraiya and his relationship with Naruto that early in their friendship. If you didn't see it first hand and question Naruto, you wouldn't know their relationship.
Not that Naruto seemed to notice anything. As oblivious as ever. He wouldn't even know that Hinata would be disappointed at not catching him today for a chat.
As I walked out of the classes, Hinata fell in line with me. I grin at her and look around.
"Where's Ino?" I ask
"Oh she's talking to the professor. She's gonna hang back and head to the library to get some studying done."
I nod as my phone pings again. I glance at it and giggle at another Naruto text with excessive exclamation points asking me to come home soon.
I feel Hinata staring at me curiously and I turn to her grinning.
"It's Naruto. See the amount of exclamations he uses? He is very excited. He has learnt a new song and is dying to play it for me."
"Learned a new song? Like on an instrument?"
I nod.
"What instrument? He knows how to play an instrument?"
"Guitar. He is learning. Shion is his teacher. She is a bass player in her band. And the whole senior year, she was teaching him to play basic chords so now he can play a lot of songs using those four chords. He liked it and started learning more from her."
"But then we shifted here and she was with the band there, so he lost his chance. But she brought her guitar with her, so he is like a kid on a sugar rush except the getting tired part. When he learns a new song, he plays it for me and I have to guess the song. It's a thing we do."
Hinata listens with rapt attention and nods. Her face falls after a moment.
"Oh. Okay then. I will leave you to go home. See you tomorrow..."
