Naruto
I was keeping to myself and humming under my breath, walking through the corridors when I spotted Sasuke. Now normally, I wouldn't be all that surprised and most probably walk along without any care but this time, the expression on his face falters my steps.
I feel my legs changing direction and fall in pace with him. He hasn't noticed me, a content expression on his face and walking along with his hands buried deep in his pockets.
"What's with you today?" I ask with the most curious expression on my face. He falters in surprise but he rolls his eyes at my presence.
At that, I grin.
"Well you are not totally a changed man, I see." I chuckle and he flips me off and tries to walk faster.
"Don't run away. We are basically best friends now." I tease and he scoffs at my statement.
"What do you want, dobe?"
"The reason for your happiness this sunny morning, teme." I quip without missing a beat.
"Maybe it was not seeing you this morning. Right until five minutes ago. So now, that's ruined."
"Aw. You flatter me. Now I would accept that statement had I not known you. But I feel a lot closer to you after our hang out that day, teme!"
"Ugh. Stop being worried dobe. I just feel not annoyed as usual. Why do you care so much?"
I shrug. "I don't know. Just curious, I guess."
"Curiosity killed the cat." Sasuke drones with a wry smile.
"But satisfaction brought it back." I smirk and he shakes his head at me.
I spot Sakura walking towards us, busy on her phone.
"Yo Sakura!" I yell and her head snaps to me at my yell. Her eyes are wide with surprise and I wave at her. She looks beside me and she involuntarily smiles.
I frown at the unnecessary snub.
People should at least pretend to be a bit more happy to see me, I think with a huff.
"Glad to see you too Sakura." I say sarcastically and she finally looks away from Sasuke. She smiles sheepishly and my annoyance softens immediately.
"You done for the day?" I ask.
"Um, yeah." She answers with a glance and a smile at Sasuke. I look at Sasuke to see him less annoyed than he was five minutes ago.
"Am I that bad of a company?" I say with my brow raised.
They both look at me in surprise.
"Well you two immediately smile at each other and suddenly my presence puts a damper on the mood." I pout but it seems to have no effect.
Sasuke rolls his eyes while Sakura still looks confused and a bit worried.
"Did you two have a date I didn't know about?" I laugh and get no answer. I looked at Sakura who looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here and Sasuke's face was carefully neutral.
"Hey guys, is this an informal gossip sesh I don't know about?" Ino's face pokes in the group and Sakura jumps.
"I have some work to catch up on. I am glad I ran into you, Ino! Let's go. Bye Naruto… and Sasuke. I will see you at dinner Naruto." She says hurriedly and grabs Ino and drags her away.
"What was that?" I wonder out loud, still confused by that sudden exit.
"I am leaving." Sasuke says and starts to walk away.
