I woke up to the sound of an alarm. It wasn't in my room, though, it was in Marinette's.
"Kid, you gotta wake her up." Plagg groaned, "I've heard that alarm go off 4 times now."
"Four times?!" I shot up, and checked the time, 7:30... school started at 8... and she was too far away! "I gotta wake her up!" I got out of the bed and opened her door, "Mari, Mari, wake up!"
"W-What...?" she looked at her clock, "OH NO!" she jumped up, "I'm going to be late!"
"Not if you hurry, I'll make toast, then I can take you from the sky."
"You will?" she scrambled to her closet, "Thank you!"
"Yep!" I left, and ran to the kitchen. I put in two pieces of bread into the toaster, and took out the lunches. Marinette ran out dressed and with her bag.
"Do you have your homework?" I asked her.
"Yes." she answered, "I do." she sighed. I handed her a piece of toast.
"Thank you." she smiled. "Okay, let's head out..."
"Right. Hold on, Princess." she got on my back, and put on a cape to cover her face. We headed up to the roof, so that way she could lock the door. I jumped from building to building to get to the school, and we were five minutes early when I got there. She climbed off my back, and thanked me again. "I have to transform back." I sighed.
"I get to carry you now." she giggled. I blushed a little.
"R-Right." I transformed back into a kitten, and she scooped me up,
"Okay, I just have to take a test, and then do a lab with her... then I'll be okay for the rest of the day... I can do it." she walked in, and headed straight to the classroom. She sat down, and I saw Alya and Nino.
"Hey girl," Alya hugged Marinette, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." she answered, "I am. I've moved into my Grandma's apartment in Paris... it's an adjustment, but I'm making progress."
"I'm so glad you're safe, dudette." Nino hugged her as well, "Are you ladies ready for the test?"
"Yeah." Marinette answered, "I got some extra help this time around."
"I think I'm ready." Alya answered, "Hopefully the study guide is the same as the test."
"Good Morning, Students." Ms. Mendeleiev walked into the door, "I hope you all studied, because as you all know you have a test today, and then we will be starting a new lab regarding some more introductory potions, so I hope you are all appropriately dressed and have your familiars." I froze, she needed me...? Shoot. "First, attendance... he's not here." My heart dropped, my name was still on the attendance... Marinette looked really upset, too. Attendance went by slowly but surely, then everyone was handed out their test. Marinette looked nervous. Then, I saw Max raise his hand."Yes, Max?" Ms. Mendeleiev asked him.
"Ma'am, none of this was on the study guide." he explained, "How can we possibly do this test if no one learned this?"
"What do you mean, you don't know?" she snapped, "If Adrien were here, he'd know it."
"But he's not." Chloe stood up, "So do us a favor, and give us the right test."
"That is the right test, and don't speak to me like that, Miss Bourgeois." Ms. M. turned around.
"I don't think my father, the Mayor, would be too pleased to heat that his daughter isn't getting her proper learning material." Since when was Chloe serious about school? Then I realized, it was to prove a point.
"Ma'am," Rose trembled, "I don't want to fail because I didn't know any of this stuff... is there any way to take another test?"
"You will take the one that was given to you, and you will take that grade." she answered.
"But Ms.-" Max was interrupted by her.
"Do you wish to go to the Principal's office, because I'd be more than happy to send you there." Max sat down. I needed to do something, was there something I could do? Marinette looked really worried. I patted her leg with one of my paws. She looked down.
"Anim aud." I casted a spell that allowed her to read my mind, and in return I could read hers. "Can you hear me?" I asked her.
"Yes." she answered, "How are you doing that?"
"Uh, familiar powers." I answered. "Look, what does the test say?"
"What?"
"Read the first question."
"What do you get when you mix two spoonfuls of rose oil, one leaf from the stem of a harmony lily, and three nails of a... squirrel?"
"No way, you're not taking that test."
"What do I do?"
"I need you to cast a word under your breath."
"What is it?"
"Scribedexlogy."
"What does that do?"
"If you channel the study guide, you can morph the questions on everyone's test and the answer sheet to fit the guide."
"No way, how do you know that?"
"When I was home schooled, I used it when I was confused... try it."
"O-Okay." she took a deep breath, and muttered under her breath, "Scribedexlogy." a very faint glow came from everyone's papers, and she let out a little gasp. Everyone was on edge, because someone had changed the questions. No one questioned who did it, people started scribbling down answers. This wasn't the first time, either. I've done it several times in class... no one knew it was me. Now, I was having Marinette do it. "No way."
"You're welcome."
"Chat, I owe you... big time."
"It's my job to help you." I answered.
"Thank you..."
"I'm gonna stop communication with you. You can do this, Mari."
"Okay." I broke the spell off, and looked around. Everyone was scribbling answers, it was unbelievable. Except Chloe... she was getting hand signals from Sabrina, and then she'd copy them... yikes. Sooner or later, everyone had finished their tests, and she took all of them.
"You will get your scores next week." Ms. M stood at the foot of her desk, "Next, we will be heading to the potion laboratory to learn some new potions... this will be a partner-based lab, and I will be selecting your partners from a sorting pot." she pulled out a small cauldron with slips of papers, "Because Adrien is not here, whoever gets assigned to him will have to work alone." She shuffled papers, and the partners were really weird.
"Alya and Ivan, Rose and Kim, Max and Nathaniel, Juleka and Alix, Chloe and Sabrina, Nino and Mylene, which left Marinette alone... I would've been her partner.
"Figure, the weakest would be put alone." Chloe laughed, "Mari-trash!"
"That's not nice, Chloe." Alya growled. "You're being rude."
"Oh come on, you all know it." Chloe pointed at me, "I mean, you've all heard about what happened to her parents, right?" she laughed, "So pathetic!"
"Stop it, Chloe." Marinette clenched her fist, "Don't talk about my family like that."
"Where are you living, on the streets? Doesn't surprise me." Chloe walked up to Marinette.
"You don't know what happened, Chloe, you have no right to talk about my family in such a way."
"Oh really? Because as the Mayor's daughter, I beg to differ."
"Using the same old excuses. We've heard it just about a million times." Marinette snarled, "I'd watch your tongue if I were you, Chloe."
"Who knows, your bad luck is probably contagious. Maybe that's how Adrien left, he realized how pathetic you are."
"I had nothing to do with Adrien's disappearance." Marinette's face was turning red, "The very fact that you would accuse me of such a thing is disgusting. You are the rudest, most ignorant person I have ever met. No, Adrien left because your father imposed laws that magic-users cannot show their faces in public, it's your Father's fault, and it's a real shame, that those rules have to apply to his daughter, otherwise he could lose his job as the Mayor... even if it means sending someone important to her and everyone else here away. Then where could you go? You couldn't call your father to get you out of things, now could you?"
"You're making things up."
"Maybe, if you actually looked at what your father did instead of using him for your personal gain, you'd see that we're all stuck here, because of you, and he's put you in the same place... how does it feel to be the Mayor's daughter now?" Marinette asked her. Chloe was completely silent. "How about instead of being rude, you try having just a little bit of humanity for those around you... maybe people would talk to you more." Marinette took a deep breath, "Ms. Mendeleiev, I am fine working alone, I also apologize on behalf of myself for postponing your class."
"Thank you for the apology, Ms. Dupain-Cheng, it's very appreciated. Chloe?"
"Whatever." she scoffed. Ms. M was back to her crummy mood. Poor Marinette. Well, I could help her... I was going to be "summoned" after all, wasn't I?
~~~~~~
I don't know, I just don't see Marinette as a very physical person. In this AU, Chloe's father is human, but her mother is a Witch... which is why they are never seen with one another. (It's a conflict of interest.) But, Chloe is magical. She has to hide her powers in public, but because there's one main school of magic in Paris, Chloe takes the same classes as everyone in the class. When Marinette spoke about the rules, it's true; The Government doesn't like magic-users, so not only does Mr. Bourgeois have to hide the fact his daughter is a witch, but he had to crate rules that would affect magic users negatively... even if it means hurting his own daughter... pretty intense, right? Well, there's a lot more to come... which of course will be updated soon! Thank you all for reading, and I'll see you very soon! :D
