Today was the day of the dance. Fortunately, it was Saturday, so Marinette and I didn't need to go to school. Speaking of... I always felt guilty about not telling her where I was going. But, she also couldn't know that I was taking secret classes with Ms. Mendeleiev. I had also asked Ms. M about my dilemma, to which she had no exact answer. She'd offered trying to cast a couple of spells, but I told her I couldn't try until after the dance... in case something bad happened. Marinette was currently out, getting some final things for her dress, and then she'd be out to go get her nails done. I told her she needed to go out and do something nice. I wanted her to get her hair and makeup done too, but she insisted she could do it on her own... I was reviewing the dance, and rehearsing some lines in my head. It's kind of weird going to a dance when you live with your date... I had the dance down, and I was looking forward to dancing with Marinette. I anticipating everything else, though. The day felt so long so far, but I knew the dance would go away so quickly. Marinette came back, and she showed me her nails,
"The lady was so quick to judge when I said I wanted green and black nails." she laughed nervously, "So I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and went with just a polish. She at least made them... sparkly?"
"Well, they look wonderful. We're going to dinner at 6, correct?" I asked her.
   "Yes, what time is it?"
"It's 3:30." I looked at the time at the microwave.
"I have two and a half hours... I'd better get going!" she ran to her room, "No coming in for the next two and half hours. I'll text you when I'm ready!"
"O-Okay!" she closed the door, and I groaned, collapsing on the couch. It would take me nothing but maybe 10 minutes to put on the tux, and maybe another five minutes to make sure I smelled okay and stuff. Maybe I would take a shower, to take up some time. I always got nervous. Plagg could literally see... everything. "Plagg, you gotta close your eyes for the next... 20 minutes."
"Really? The best way to kill time... is to shower?" Plagg snorted, "Can't you do something... productive? Like homework?"
"I don't have homework, and there's no harm in a shower. It'll make my hair less oily and I'll probably get rid of that nasty camembert smell."
"It's not nasty!" Plagg retorted, "You simply have no taste!"
"Whatever, just close your eyes." About thirty minutes later, I was out of the shower, and currently drying my hair with a towel in my room. Despite being here for six months, I had nothing to do in my room. I couldn't use my phone... it was at my house, and if I dared to try and grab it, my dad could track me down so quickly. I couldn't take anything from my house, really. This left me at a stand still. Marinette was essentially paying for two people... with her own money, which I had no clue where it was coming from. But, I didn't want to question it, because it was the reason we were currently still alive, and being fed. I decided the best way to kill the time would be to go out and look for a flower corsage and boutonniere. Marinette was going on about how we didn't need them, but if I were to find one that matched our theme... that'd be perfect. I'd been saving up some money. I'd find it on patrol, and recently I'd been finding some jobs with Chloe and her family. It probably wasn't the best idea, but it got me something. I headed to a floral shop, and they had an entire shelf dedicated to corsages and boutonniere sets. I found one that worked perfectly. Each of the pieces had a single white rose, and it was decorated with a ton of green and black ribbon. When I approached the counter, the florist recognized me, and offered to give me the items for free, as a thank you for constantly saving Paris. I felt bad for accepting it, but she was very insistent... so I left, with some money still in my pocket and two flower things in hand. I flew straight back to the apartment, and Marinette was still in her room. I could hear her playing some Jagged Stone music. I headed back to my room, and set the stuff down.
"Well, now what?" Plagg asked me. I looked at the time. I still had about 45 minutes to kill.
"I don't know. There's not much I can do. The majority of my face is consumed by a mask, and my hair... well, no sense in doing anything fancy. My suit will take no time to put on. I guess in reality I had 35 minutes, since for 10 minutes, we'd probably be taking photos. I spent 10 minutes pacing around the room, 10 minutes making sure that the stuff I had planned was okay, and 15 minutes putting on my suit and mask. When I looked in the mirror, I chuckled a little. The suit fit like a glove. The collar did a fantastic job of hiding the majority of the collar that came with the suit, and the bell on my suit was accentuated, rather than hidden. The undershirt was a dark emerald green with black buttons that had dark silver paw prints on it. The jacket was black, along with the dress pants. The foot covers were a little difficult to get, but they ended up working really well with disguising the feet of my suit. My mask hid everything it needed to hide and added so much more to the look. She had even made a pocket square with the same fabric the shirt. I thought it was absolutely amazing. I stepped outside of my room, and stood by the balcony door.
"Marinette?" I called out, "Are you ready?"
"Just about." She answered, "I just need to grab a couple more things... and done! Are you ready to see?"
"Yes!" I answered, "Come on out, Mari." I heard her door open, and I stood in the living room. I could hear her footsteps, and the moment I saw her, my jaw dropped. She was wearing a beautiful black strapless ballgown that faded down to the same dark emerald green as my shirt. She had gloves that reached her mid upper arm and were completely lace. Her neck had a black collar with a small bell on it. She had some of her hair down, and some of it up. She didn't have her mask on now, but it was placed on the top of her hand, and had green and black decoration. Everything just looked so stunning.
"W-Well, what do you think?" she asked me.
"You look stunning, absolutely gorgeous." I answered, still awestruck, "You did such a beautiful job. I can't stop looking at you." I walked up to her, "I got us a couple of things I found at a flower shop here." I pulled out the flowers, and she gasped,
"I didn't think they'd have one that matched our outfits."
"This was the closest to it I could find."
"They're perfect!" she smiled, "Thank you, Chat." I grabbed her flower, and adjusted it to her wrist. Then, she pinned my flower onto my tux."
"Well, we'd better get going. I've got another surprise."
"Do you?" she asked me, curiously.
"I may or may not have secured the coolest ride Paris has to offer."
   "What might that be?"
"Well, let's go outside." I winked. We headed out the door, and Marinette locked the door before we went out the... normal way. Outside of our apartment was a small black carriage with covered windows and two horses.
"No way." she gasped, "You got a carriage? How?"
"I've been helping out around the city... so the Mayor kind of helped me get this in return."
   "It's amazing!"
"I'm glad you think so, M'Lady. Well, I have reservations at our favorite restaurant, and then we'll be taking this bad boy here and back from the dance."
"You're incredible. You seriously didn't have to do this."
"You're the one who made our outfits. Please, this is the very least I could do. Now, come on, we have a dinner and dance to go to." I linked my arm with hers. "Ready to go, Princess?"
"Definitely." she answered. I helped her onto the carriage, and closed the door behind us. Dinner didn't need to be explained; It was amazing as per usual, and it was really funny because Marinette asked for extra napkins so that she could practically cover her whole dress in them. It was funny seeing her completely engulfed in them. Then, it insisted I do the same, and not wanting to go against her wishes, I too, became a napkin monster. The food was great, the service was great too, since no one else from the school was going to this restaurant. Then, we headed to the event's location. Instead of the school, the dance was to be located in the ballgown of the Bourgeois's hotel. Marinette wasn't all too pleased in the beginning, but now she was more than ready for everyone to see her dress. We presented our tickets, and they let us into the hotel. The ballroom had a flight of steps you have to go down before reaching the actual floor. When those doors opened, everyone was able to look at us and our costumes.
