It had been four months since everything happened. Four months since Marinette found out about my curse, and since I found out that same person was Ladybug. In that two months, we had fought about a dozen akumas, went on nightly patrols, all the while maintaining a very stable school schedule. When we'd come home, Marinette and I would do our homework, and then I'd be sent off to take refreshers, to make sure I didn't miss anything with Ms. Mendeleiev. This was a routine that took a while to develop, but it was well-worth it when we got there. Marinette and I had grew extremely close, and the News started picking up on things going on between Ladybug and Chat Noir. Articles like, "Paris's New Super Couple" and "LadyNoir; The Pair We Didn't Know We Needed" started to appear. It made for awkward times, but none of us took any steps to deny the articles. But, we didn't do anything "couple" related either... it seemed like the most we did was flirt and hug occasionally as superheroes. I knew there were some underlying doubts. The first and most obvious being, that Marinette had no idea I was Adrien under the mask. To her, I could be anyone in Paris. It just seemed weird to jump into a relationship. But, I wanted it. I just didn't know how to articulate it to her, or start it, with that huge secret still in the air. I guess living together, we could easily could be mistaken for a couple. Perhaps it was became we'd been living together for a while now. Even Alya and Nino would notice at school that she was daydreaming or scribbling stuff into her notebook. Sometimes I wondered if she really did like me... but I knew she had no clue who I was, and she wished it herself; She didn't want to know who I was until she was able to help me. We were currently out. Marinette was wearing a hat and a wig, and had glasses on. I was watching her from the buildings, since she didn't want new outlets to get suspicious. I watched as she stepped into a store, and waited for her to come out. Thirty minutes passed, and soon I started seeing trucks. It wasn't before it turned that I saw the logo. The Anti-Magic Counsel. I hopped into the building and Marinette was surrounded by men.
"You're coming with us." I heard one say.
"No, she's not." I swooped into the group and grabbed Marinette. Thankfully, no one was able to see me. The entire store was surrounded by trucks. I extended my baton, and climbed onto another building.
"Chat, they can see us!" Marinette held onto me, "There's a helicopter!"
"We're just going to have to travel on the ground when we get far enough, then." I climbed onto another roof. The complexes were not too far, and I hopped down. Luckily, the area wasn't busy, and we were able to get into the apartment. I closed the doors and windows, and locked everything.
"I need you to hide really quickly. I don't want you transforming, in case they can detect you. I will transform as a cat and watch."
"How will I talk to you, then?"
"I will summon the spell. Right now, they're probably keeping watch on you. Any move from you is a giant risk. Lock the door from behind me. I will look over."
"Okay..." she headed to her room, and I transformed as a cat. I sat on the balcony, and I heard Marinette lock the door. I was terrified. What would've happened if I wasn't there? Marinette might've been caught, or taken away. A life without Marinette... I didn't want to imagine it. The helicopter was flying everywhere, and scanning every part of Paris. I decided now would be a good time to talk to Marinette.
"Marinette, can you hear me?"
"Yeah." she answered, "What's happening? I'm under my bed right now."
"Well, I'm currently on the balcony, looking around. The helicopter is flying everywhere, and I'm seeing at least ten trucks driving around the city... well, it's nice your grandmother had an apartment on the top floor, now isn't it?"
"Where are they headed?"
"Everywhere. When is graduation again?"
"In five days." she answered, "Do you think I'll be able to hide for that long?"
"Yeah, you will." I answered, "Unlike other people, you have the ability to transform into someone else."
"Ladybug..." Marinette's voice went down, "Do you really think it's gotten to that point?"
"I know so. I'm sorry, Marinette." I sighed.
"No, don't be. If you can do it for... this long, I can handle five days. I only need to be Marinette in school. Then, I can be Ladybug. Besides, it won't be suspicious if I'm seen around you as Ladybug. It might make for more of those couple articles, but even then, we just need five days."
"The helicopter's coming over here." I looked up, "I think it's scanning for magic activity. I need you to let me in. I will cast a spell."
"What will it do?"
"It will cast a temporary shield, preventing the helicopter from sensing your magical aura."
"I'm coming to the door. Close the conversation." I did, and Marinette let me in. We both went underneath the bed, and as a black cat, I summoned a field. All Marinette needed to do was hold onto me until we felt like the helicopter was gone. This took three hours. Then, I went on the balcony, and all the trucks and that helicopter was gone. I transformed into Chat Noir, and sat down on the couch.
"That was too close." I sighed, "Do we have enough groceries for five days?"
"Yeah." she answered, "I just went yesterday to the store."
"Good. Because, the only time we're going to leave this place is if we're superheroes, or if we need to go to school."
"Agreed... we can't do anything else. The risk is way too high, and they're no longer looking at the bakery."
"I wouldn't be too sure. I think that's the first place they're going to look. I mean, any other girl with no parents would probably seek refuge in the last place they saw their parents. Fortunately, we've got a plan... right?" I looked over, and Marinette was standing by the kitchen counter. I could see her shoulders moving up and down. "Oh, Marinette." she started sniffing, and she ran into my arms, and sobbed,
"I'm so sorry, it's my fault this is all happening!"
"No, it's not." I hugged her, and we sat down on the couch. She cuddled into me,
"It is! They found me, and I didn't do a good enough job of hiding myself. I let my guard down, and it's at the worst possible time... just before we're supposed to get you back. I can't afford to get caught, what will I do?" she asked me.
"We'll leave." I answered, "We'll go somewhere far away. Some place to start over. We'll defeat Hawkmoth, and we'll go."
"We'll get you back, too." she squeezed me, "I have to get you back..."
"You already have me, Princess."
"No, I don't. I need the person behind the mask to know I care about them, too." she wailed, "Chat, you're a person, and I won't leave until you go back to normal."
"Marinette..." she wrapped her arms around me,
"Five days, we can do it... and then Hawkmoth, and then freedom."
"That's right." I calmed Marinette down, and she ended up falling asleep, again. Marinette was exhausted, rightfully so, and she was resting her head in my chest.
"Plagg..." I started talking to him, "What do I do?"
"Exactly what you're doing, kid."
"Can you handle five days?"
"I've been dealing with you for this long. I can handle another five days. I can tell... you're doubting the plan will work."
"You can tell?"
"Don't doubt Marinette."
"I'm not. It's just... we'e been like this for so long... it's hard to imagine this not being the case. It's messing with my brain."
"Well, kid, I'll tell you one thing. I think this is closest to a holder I've ever been." I chuckled,
"You know how to lighten the mood, don't you? Sometimes, it feels like I'm talking to an imaginary friend when I'm talking to you, only, you're not imaginary."
"Well, that makes sense." Plagg sighed, "But, seriously, I have a good feeling about the plan."
"You do?"
"Yeah." Plagg answered, "Look, I can feel the aura, it might be Tikki influencing it, but Marinette's very capable of holding some sort of power. Don't lose hope, please. It's important to keep thinking as positively as you can."
"You're right." I nodded, "I will." I looked down, as Marinette sleeping peacefully, "She's got faith..."
"So, there's no reason for you to lose that." Plagg yawned, "Get some sleep, you've got to find a way around for the next five days."
"Right." Little did I know, those five days came up faster than we all thought. It was really up to Marinette, and I was putting all my trust in her. Let's hope that it works... please God, let it work.~~~~~~
I've never really written too much about magic. The majority of stories in my old account were of things like school and real life topics. This is probably one of the few times I've ever written something practically composed of magic. Speaking of compositions, I am so excited for my AP Music Theory class! There's like, 17 of us I think, but most of them are band and orchestra kids, so I don't exactly know a lot of them. But, I love music and I'm really looking forward to being in that class more. But, what about you guys? What classes are you most excited for? Again, thank you so much for 1,000 reads. I'm so happy so many people decided to click on this story, and hopefully it's been a good story so far! Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day or night or anything you may be having right now, and I will see you all soon with another chapter!
