Author's Point Of View

Three years ago.

Park Young-Min was packing her stuff up into assorted boxes which were kind enough to be provided by her twin brother, Park Young-Jae.

He was charming out his nephew downstairs, with Hyun-Ki in his arms when Kim Hee-Yung, their mother came through the living room.

"Where's your sister?" She asked ignoring her grandson.

Park Young-Jae tilted his head to the direction of the second floor. Her heels echoed as she walked upstairs.

"Park Young-Min! Are you in your right mind now?! Why did I hear from your in-laws that you have decided to move to Busan? Why don't I know anything?" Her voices vibrated along the big hall.

Young-Min just kept quiet while continuing her task, obviously ignoring her deranged mother.

"Young-Min-ya! Where are you? Ah! This house is really-"

Sounds of shuffling papers made her turned to her left.

"Why would you throw everything Hyun-Shik had planned for you?" her mother said as she located her in Hyun-Ki's room.

"Why do you have to be a stubborn person and not think of what better future you two would have with all this inheritance?" Her mother's nags impregnated her ears.

But she turned a deaf one and continuing her task. It was like she was shutting herself from listening to her mother.

Not anymore.

She has decided.

Even the air in this house suffocate the living out of me.

Kim Hee-Young trotted nearer to her.

"Young-Min-ya?! Didn't you hear me? Don't turn deaf at me!"

She stepped towards her daughter grasping her arms.

"The inheritance, Young-Min? Does that not mean something to you? How about Hyun-Ki?"

God, she was so tired of this.

Tired to a point that she just wanted to run away and sneaked up in a hole somewhere.

But, Hyun-Ki, her precious son. Every time she looked at him, her insides melted and softened.

Yes, she wanted him to lead a healthy, wealthy and good life. But, her heart betrayed her much that freedom was all that she felt she had left to enjoy.

Her shoulders slumped. She raised her chin while looking at her mother blankly.

"I will keep it for Hyun-Ki if he wants it when he's an adult in the near future. But right now I want to live, eomma. I want to live like how I want it to be. For once."

"Why Young-Min-ya? Why do you have to inherit your father's stubbornness?" Her mother's hold still latched on her arm.

"Young-Min-ya. Can you just accept the fact that what Hyun-Shik had plan proved that he loved you two? Would you not have mercy on his soul? He might wake up from his grave when he sees what have become of you now!"

Those thoughts and those words, which she really wanted to avoid and despised made her froze. Coils of coils of hidden and suppressed feelings unravel and lited inside her like forgotten embers.
