Young-Min's Point of View (-still-)
I raised my eyebrows.
He raised his.
He pouts and we both laugh.
...
It's been a decade since my last plane ride.
Looking at Jungkook, I can't help to compare him with my late husband.
Jungkook's laughs are merry, Hyun-Shik smiles an awkward one.
Jungkook's stares straight to your soul like you meant the world to him, Hyun-Shik hates eye contacts.
Jungkook's words are encouraging, Hyun-Shik criticizes.
Ye, I know it's a dangerous comparison since I don't know him that much.
But— As long as I keep it here, locked in my mind, he doesn't have to know that.
"How is your husband? He's a politician right?"
My heart stops when he inquires that.
"Why do you ask?" I said while looking out at the clouds.
"Nothing. Just feeding my curiosity though. He's a politician, but why do you need to work hard, by the way?"
I sigh.
"My husband lets me, no—gives me a lot of freedom. He didn't wish for me to lock up all day in our house. He's very supportive."
The last sentences nearly choke me.
The sun shines through the plane's window but it's still cold. The clouds are easy on the eyes though.
"So, when I grow up I want to be a reporter?" I tease as I smile at him.
Jungkook's eyes widen as he smiles back and chuckles.
Then his finger pokes on my left dimple.
What?!
My eyes widen at the sudden touch. Heart surely skips a beat.
"It distracts me." He said as if he knew what is in my mind.
Then his smile falters.
He looks away, then clears his throat.
This is awkward.
Then, he smiles.
"I love traveling. Support myself a lot by writing journals and taking pictures. It becomes a regular routine. A lot of my friends thought they are good enough. So, it became a job."
"How's your family?" I ask again to distract the awkwardness between us.
"My mom and dad get into a divorce so, the three of us, my elder brother, elder sister and I traveled to and fro between my mom's house and my dad's.
"Did you get to see them now?"
"Ye, we always gather during the holidays. Special occasions, birthdays, Christmas, you name it. But my mom would want nothing from it. Since we see her more, dad only get to see us during those time. My dad re-married 4 years ago. This October, it's my dad's birthday. He already informed us to come and celebrate it together."
"It's a little broken, I mean my family, but we care about each other. And I'm hoping it stayed that way,"
Apparently talking about his family set the mood back between us. I can sense from his voice how proud he is of his family.
I am too, so this made me feel at ease with him.
"So, how old is your father now?"
"Fifty-five,"
"And your new mommy?" I smile as I said that.
He scrunches his nose as he mouths 28.
"Ey-hey... that's my age."
The difference is 27. Okay-That was a surprise.
"You're 28? Can I call you mommy too?" He pouts as he bluntly calls me mommy.
At that, we laugh so hard.
Then, his laughter slowly dies.
"How's a marriage life feels like Young-Min?"
His question shocks me much. I look at him.
Then, I just come up with the most common answers.
"Happy. Complete the other half. Sharing. Laughter. And so many things."
"I would love to get married someday."
"Hm-Yes you should Jungkook.
If I can find someone with cute dimples like you tomorrow, I would marry in a heartbeat.
