We were all sitting at the kitchen table in silence.
"Werewolves?" Riley said, "You're werewolves?"
I didn't want to tell her. I didn't want to scare or worry her. But stupid Charlie had to go and screw it up by Morphing to her. Lucas insisted that when something as serious as Morphing happens, it was selfish and dangerous to keep her in the dark.
We had explained everything to her and Farkle as soon as we got home. Riley took it surprisingly well. She acted started and surprised, but she accepted it. Farkle, however, as a firm man of 'science,' totally rejected the truth and downright refused to believe it.
"That's impossible," Farkle finally said, after moments of stunned silence "Biologically, a man cannot turn into a wolf, it's impossible."
Lucas stared at him, hard, his jaw clenched.
Lucas got out of his chair, took off his clothes so that he was left in his boxers, which I tried to ignore, and clenched his muscles. His biceps ripples, and his abs became more defined.
In the span of a few seconds, Lucas transformed into a huge wolf, one that barely fit in the kitchen.
It's fur was blond-brown, like Lucas's hair. And it's eyes were the same bright, beautiful shade of emerald green that I loved so much. He nuzzled my neck, then stared at Farkle with those big intelligent eyes. Riley looked up at him in fear and awe, before she remembered that the wolf was still Lucas. She patted his side, and he snorted. It took me a minute to realize it was a wolf-laugh.
Farkle fainted out of his chair.
Riley sighed and hoisted him back up. He regained consciousness, looked at Lucas, then fainted again. Riley gave up and left him there. By now, we knew better than to try to do anything about it.
Lucas turned back into a human, putting his clothes back on so fast that I didn't have time to see anything indecent.
Later, Maya. There's time for that.
Shut up! I scolded myself, blushing. Luckily, Lucas didn't see the blush. If he did, he didn't say anything or ask about it.
Lucas sat back down.
"So... what will happen to me?" Riley asked timidly, "To Farkle?" She looked lovingly down at him.
"There's no way to know. It could be that Charlie has enough sense and self-control to stay away, or he could-" but at that moment, Zay burst in through the back door, his face ashen and his eyes sorrowful.
Lucas jumped up.
"What is it?" he asked.
"It's Charlie," Zay said, his voice deep and sad, "He's dead."
