I Love It

"Well... that you guys could move in with us, I meant to say," Lucas said with a smile.

"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"We have a group house," Josh piped up, "It's called the Pack House. It's a second residence for members of the Pack. A big log-cabin-mansion deep in the woods."

Lucas nodded, "Usually only members of the Pack can live there, but now that I'm... Alpha," Zay and Josh both grinned, but Lucas grimaced at the leadership title, "there should be some changes." He finished.

I grinned, "So, we can both move in?" I asked excitedly.

"Absolutely," Lucas said.

"We should take them to go see it," Zay said.

"Good idea," Lucas nodded his approval.

"Let's go now!" Riley said. She sounded almost as excited as I felt, but I was trying not to show it. No point in being too hopeful. It sounded too good to be true.

"Let's go!" Josh cried.

Lucas and I led the way, holding hands. Josh and Zay climbed into their separate cars. I got into Lucas's car with him while Farkle and Riley got into my car. Lucas followed Josh, with Zay, Riley and Farkle behind us. Josh kept stopping and slowing down and then driving really fast to annoy Lucas, but Lucas just laughed and veered around him.

It was a ten minute drive, but it didn't feel that long. We got into less populated areas until we were framed by corn fields, and then the gravel turned to dirt as me got onto a winding path that led into the forest.

Finally, we pulled up to the Pack House.

It was just as Josh described it. A log-cabin-mansion. It was four stories, with a huge porch, but the whole thing was made out of logs. I gasped and jumped out of the car, with Lucas and the others behind me. Lucas tosses me the keys. I laugh, because it is a silver key with a full moon key chain on the key ring. I unlock the door and go into the house.

The first thing I notice is the smell: wood shavings, baby powder, earth, and fabric softener. The second thing I notice almost makes me cry: it looks just like my grandparents cabin in the mountains. The floor is wood paneled, and a big grey shag rug is spread across the space in front of the door. Two big staircases branch off of either side. To the right side is the den, which I can see has a huge TV and three mismatch couches. To the left side is the kitchen, which is full of huge cupboards and pantries.

"I love it," I say, standing on tiptoes to kiss Lucas.

"You haven't even seen upstairs yet," He said incredulously.

"I don't care, I still love it," I said.

And I did.

I really, really did.

"Would you like a tour?" he offered.

"Of course," I replied.

We linked arms and started up the stairs.
