I'm so sorry for the long wait, but I hope you like it anyways.  I wanted to make it longer, but I decided to stop where I was.  Hopefully, I'll have the next part up in a couple of days.  Thanks for sticking with me!

"Crazy, psycho weirdo say wha'?" I gasped.

"It must be someone playing a prank," Sam whispered to me.

"Oh, look you finally decided to speak to me again," I retorted.

"Seriously, Jess?  You really think now is the time for this?"

"I thought you said it was probably just a prank?"

"Yeah, but what if it's not?"

"You seriously think that someone can hold the whole school hostage while we play a silly game?"

"I've never heard you call it silly before,"  Sam snorted.

"Would you guys cut it out!" Krista finally hollered, shoving Sam and I away from each other.  "Now is definitely not the time, wouldn't you agree?"

"Well...." I began, but paused when I heard crackling over the loudspeakers.

"Now that I've given you all some time to mull things over, let me set some ground rules," the voice spoke once again, causing everyone to fall into a nervous silence.  "I'm in control.  I have complete power over all of you, yes even you teachers."

"I don't like this," I whispered to my friends.  "I'm calling the police."  I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed 911, but all I heard was static.

"Any luck?" Krista asked.

"I have no signal.  Verizon has never failed me before, I don't understand.  Man, I knew I should've switched to AT&T!"

"I see you haven't lost your sense of humor," Sam shook his head, sardonically.

"As many of you have probably realized by now, all phones have been rendered useless," the voice spoke once again, chilling my spine with its raspy words.  I've strategically placed a bug in the school that jams any signal leaving or entering this building.  That way, you won't be able to call in any reinforcements.  It's just you and me.  In the original version of Murder in the Dark, one would win by finding the first victim.  In my version, I can only be defeated if you somehow manage to find my bug and destroy it, thus allowing you to call the police.  Trust me, it will be no easy task though."

"Easy task my butt.  What a coward!  This...this maniac thinks he's in control? I have half a mind to stomp around the school until I find him and then beat the living daylights out of him.  I mean, seriously.  What a bunch of bologna!" I muttered, storming around the room in a blaze.

"Jess, calm down!  Let the teachers handle this.  We don't even know what's going on yet," Krista murmured, trying to soothe me.

"And we won't know what's going on unless we go and find out for ourselves."

"Jess, you're being unreasonable," Sam joined in.

"I'm being unreasonable? Tell that to the freaking psychotic good-for-nothing cheesehead who's threatening to kill us all over the loudspeakers!"

"Some of you may be thinking, 'why don't I just walk out the doors and run to the nearest phone.'  Trust me, I'm not that stupid.  All of the doors are locked--from the outside.  The same holds true for all of the windows.  To be extra cautious, I've even jammed them with some metal rods. No one here is leaving.  Not until I say so that is."

"Who does this guy think he is?" Sam grumbled, shaking his head with a scowl plastered on his face.  "No one gets to walk around playing God."

"I think he's pretending to be Buddha.  Everyone look for a big fat guy!" I muttered.
