Emily POV

I walk back upstairs to find Jakie in her room leaning on the front end of the bed facing the bathroom door.

"Y-You okay?" I stutter not knowing how to bring up the topic.

"I'm fine," Jakie says emotionlessly staring at the ground in front of her.

"I know you're not fine... Just talk to me." I plead.

"Leave me the hell alone Emily!" She yells sounding broken and betrayed.

I walk out of her room shutting the door behind me without a word.

After the failed talk with Jakie, I get into my pajamas, grab my stuffed animals, and curl up on the bed.

"Can I come in?" I hear as I'm about to enter the realm of sleep. I simply grunted in response. "What is it?"

"I can not sleep..." Cas replies and sits down next to me as I sit up.

"But you don't sleep," I exclaim and he chuckles lightly.

"I am aware..." He says twiddling his thumbs in his lap.

"What's up?" I ask letting him hold one of the stuffed creatures to calm him down.

"I do not know... I just think I want to hang," He admits.

"Doing what?" I inquire.

"Um... we could watch a movie?" He suggests and I shrug my shoulders.

"I've... Um... I've watched a lot of them recently." I dodge and he looks a bit defeated. "We could read a book?"

"I would like that," Cas says. "What is your favorite?"

"I personally like Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and a couple others. Come here, we'll check my shelves out?" I offer and beckon him to follow me across the room to my wall of bookshelves.

"We could read Percy Jackson," He agrees and I nod my head in approval. "I've always wanted to learn about the Greek gods. How they are different from God and us angels."

"Okay," I say and hope back on the bed setting my stuffed animals, who Cas places on the bed to check out the books, on my lap.

I open it up to the first page and start reading, "Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood..."

One hour later

Cas POV

We've made it to a chapter called, "We Take A Zebra To Vegas," before Emily closed her eyes, leaned back on the pillows and fell fast asleep. I took the book over to the desk in the corner of her room, rummaged through the clutter to find a bookmark, tuck her under the blankets, and gave her a quick peck on the forehead before heading to the living room to do my nightly sit on the couch.

"Hello? Anyone awake?" I hear Jakie whisper before heading down the stairs quietly. She heads into the room where I'm sitting and jumps 3 feet in the air upon noticing me sitting on the couch.

"Sorry," I apologize as she clutches her rapidly beating heart and calming herself down.

"It's fine," She sighs.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"I'm always okay," She replies vaguely.

"You um know that you can talk to me if you need anything... Right?" I inquire rubbing the back of my neck with my hand awkwardly.

"Yeah. Thanks, Cas," She responds sitting down next to me.

"No problem," I say as she relaxes laying her head on a pillow and her feet dangling off the edge of the couch comfortably.
