Jakie P.O.V.

"Why?" I ask sadly after what feels like 30 minutes of complete silence, as we both lay on different sides of the bed, our hands intertwined.

"Jakie, you of all people should know that it's not something that can be explained, let's just say I was bloody miserable in the Glade," Newt responds with a hint of annoyance, and I flinch at the mention of him being miserable.

It hurts to know that he hides all these feelings from me, but once again it's not his fault, it's mine. I immediately grab his wrists realizing more cuts and scars could trace his skin. I scan my eyes over his wrists and give him a sad look.

"Like I said, tough times." He snaps, ripping his wrists back, becoming angry and distant.

I look into his eyes, reading his emotions, and seeing how much he hates being vulnerable. Suddenly he puts up his indestructible walls and I can no longer read his expressions. Just like that, he cuts himself off from me once again. He then jumps off the bed and rushes into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. I slowly get off the bed and walk over to the door.

"Newt?" I say calmly, and when there's no response, I sigh. "Newt... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to anger you, much less make you feel vulnerable." He opens the door, tears threatening to spill out of his eyes.

"You have to promise me... Promise me you won't worry about me." He starts, and I scoff. "Please... You can't bloody worry... You come first."

"Newt, how could you ask me to not worry about you? No matter what I do, I am always going to worry." I state grabbing his hands. "Come on, let's go downstairs for breakfast. The others should be waking up soon."

"Just bloody promise me!" He yells angrily but stunned at the fact that he yelled at me, as I look at him in shock. "Please, just promise." He says more calm with tears running down his face.

"I promise," I say rubbing the side of his cheek with my thumb.

He nods, letting go of his previous request, and he gives me a peck on my lips as we walk down to the kitchen, hand in hand.

"Morning, guys," Emily says, walking down the stairs with Dean. I instinctively grab Newt's hand at the sight of Dean, as I am still a little spooked from what he did mere hours ago. Dean gives me a sad, apologetic look as he seems to have noticed my fear. Newt looks at me and gives me a reassuring look. Soon everyone's awake, and have come down for breakfast.

"What's for breakfast, this fine morning?" Emily speaks up trying to break the tension.

Newt POV

After breakfast, we all decide to go on a camping trip for a few days. Emily said it was, and I quote, a way to "get out" and "distract ourselves" from recent events.

We run upstairs to start packing as we are be going away from Friday-Monday and we're leaving at noon today. I check the clock on top of the dresser and see that it's 9:00. I go to the closet that Jakie previously showed me, and find a black bag that can hold Jakie's and my stuff for the weekend. I pack a couple of beige shirts, and brown pants, along with the small dagger that I brought with me from the Glade. I bring the bag to Jakie, who is sitting on the bed, reading, and she packs her stuff too. I go to the bathroom, and pack our toothbrushes and a travel-sized toothpaste, and put them in a small, travel bag, making sure not to bring any sharp objects. I go to Jakie's nightstand and grab a hairbrush for her to bring, and place everything in the bag since Jakie has finished packing. I pick the bag up and bring it downstairs to the kitchen. I see Emily already in the kitchen making some food to bring with and assume that Dean's packing their bag.
