Emily POV
"Wake up," I hear someone call softly.
"I don't want to!" I grumble and feel them jump on my legs. "Go away!"
"Come on!" They reply by grabbing my wrists and tugging me into a sitting position.
"Where are we going?" I ask, confused.
"Downstairs, now. We're making cookies!" Jakie announces as I open my eyes slowly, blinking in the spring, morning light.
"I stopped listening when you told me we are going downstairs." I retort.
"Cookies!" She yells in my face and I perk up at the mention of the delicious treat.
"Cookies?" I ask.
"Yup. Now get dressed. Meet me in the kitchen in 10 minutes, or I'm starting without you," She orders.
"Fine!" I grumble.
"Why are we making cookies, again?" Sam asks as we arrive in the kitchen.
"Because cookies are food; and the food is good," Jakie explains simply.
"Good enough for me," I state with a small smile.
We start to make the cookies and even put some music on to make the mood more festive. A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman starts playing and Jakie sings along in her happy-go-lucky voice.
She skips around the house twirling and jumping around like a child making all of us laugh. She stands up on the table and starts to act out the scene with a spatula as her microphone. I smile at her, lean against the counter with a smile on my face, and sigh. Once the song ends she jumps down and continues to make the cookies, however, once another song flips on that she knows, you can bet she doesn't hesitate to sing along as she bakes.
Out of the side of my eye, I can see Peter around the corner watching her with the utmost love and desire. If we do get Dean back I think my life will finally be complete. So much devastation and heartbreak have come to our family, yet we push through and receive happiness worth far more than we could all comprehend. Sam leaves, telling us that he and Jo are going out today. And as one second passes by our world comes crashing down.
Suddenly Jakie drops to the ground clutching her chest with a pained look on her face. I rush over to her, Peter close behind. She starts coughing and it intensifies by the second. Peter grabs her by the waist and lifts her up, basically carrying her to the couch. Jakie's eyes flare a yellow and they keep flashing out. Almost as if she is fading away. I know what I have to do, and I think Jakie does too, but we both don't like it.
"JJ, we have to call Scott and Isaac," I state once she calms down.
"No... Emily... Please... I can't--" She huffs out, pleading.
"I'm not gonna just let you die!" I yell at her, and she stares at me wide-eyed. Shit... I wasn't supposed to say that.
"What?!" Peter shouts making Jakie flinch.
"I'll leave you guys to talk..." I try to take my leave.
"Not so fast--" Peter starts.
"I'm going to call Scott whether Jakie wants me to or not." I retort sternly, he nods and I rush off.
Jakie POV
"What did she mean by not wanting to watch you die?" Peter asks, calm but nervous. I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out, so I close my mouth, speechless.
"Jakie?" He pleads, "Please..."
"You know how I'm losing my powers?" I say emotionlessly, as he nods.
