Valerie's POV :

A scream ripped through my lips as I shot up out of my slumber. Hot tears burnt trails down my cheeks and my body shook with sobs.

'It's like it gets more painful every time ' Kendra whimpered.

I didn't answer, I just got out of bed and headed to the bathroom, sobbing in the process. When I was finished with my bath my tears ran out. I threw on my usual attire before exiting my room and entered the kitchen.  I was greeted by the omegas and one passed me a plate and I thanked her while sitting down. As I was about to take a bite, the scent of my mate filled the air. I turned to see him entering the kitchen.

"Good morning Alpha " he greeted with a smile.

"Good morning Chris " I responded.

He greeted the omegas and sat right beside me while Sheila passed him a cup of coffee.

'Mate is sitting beside us ' Kendra howled.

'Yeah, so? ' I said.

'Make peace with mate. I want to be with mate '

'I know you do Ken, but you know my reasons. '

'Yeah and I know that those reasons are keeping us from mate. It makes no sense to me anymore, why wouldn't you tell him? '

'Enough Kendra, I won't tell him because I don't want our past to be his burden '

'He's a grown man he can handle it. He's looking at us'

I turned to look at him and sure enough Chris was staring at me with a small smile on his face. I rose a brow at him and he looked away. But I didn't miss the light shade of pink staining his cheeks. I smirked.

'Aaaawwwweeee isn't that cute, mate is blushing over us ' she cooed and I chuckled inwardly.

'Yeah it is cute ' I admitted.

'You think mate is cute! You like mate! ' my smirk fell when she said that.

'No I don't 'I denied.

'Don't deny it Valerie, you do like him. It is inevitable. ' she said and I ended the connection. She wasn't wrong though, the mate bond would force me to, unless I reject him.

'Don't even think about rejecting him ' she growled.

'It was just a thought, geez' I said and continued to eat. I looked at my phone and the reminder notification came up, telling me that tonight was a full moon. I groaned internally.

'Tonight's a full moon everyone, you know the drill' I mind linked the entire pack.

"Drill? What drill?" Chris asked confused and I mentally slapped myself.

'You didn't tell him about the drill, remember? ' Kendra said in a teasing way.

"Oh right you're not from the pack so you wouldn't know " I began then glanced at him "well, the drill is actually a once-a-month curfew where the entire pack has to be in bed by 9:00 PM, but only on the night of a full moon " I explained.

"Why? " he cocked his head slightly to the left.

"Reasons " was all I said.

"What reasons? "
