Valerie's POV:

I was awoken by a throbbing pain in my head. I sat up and message my temple attempting to relieve the pain, but it seems it only made it worse. I glanced at my side only to see an empty space where Chris use to be.

Where is he, I thought looking around in hopes to find my mate.

Soft whimpers escaped my lips as the pain intensified along with cold sweat running down my face. The whimpers were exchanged with a loud whine when the pain kept on growing. I closed my eyes, wishing the pain would just leave.

I heard a door swing open the I was pulled to a cool but familiar embrace. We rocked back and forth as the pain decreased. When it was gone, I opened my eyes and looked up to see my shirtless mate, he's toned and tanned chest and rippling muscles on display and hair dripping wet, obviously just coming out of the shower. I did my best not to gawe at him so I kept my eyes on his concerned face.

"Are you alright now?" He asked.

"Yeah I am now." I said.

"Good." he leaned forward and kissed my temple. He straightened himself with a displeased look on his face. "I have training but I don't want to leave you."

"Chris, I'll be fine. Go to training, I need you on top of everything so that you'll be ready for any attack." I told him. The look on his face told me he was considering it. He sighed and turned his head away. He released me and got up.

"Fine I'll go. But you need to change into something cooler." he stated. I glanced at my attire which consists of a oversized sweater and a pair of sweats because I felt cold last night. I rose a brow at him.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I questioned.

"You're sweating like you ran a marathon right now." He said, glancing at me. Well he had a point.

"Well then, what do you suggest I wear?" He pulled on his shirt.

"Maybe one of my shirts, it'll keep you cool and you'd have my scent to comfort you."

"OK." I shrugged.

He left a lingering kiss on my cheek as a farewell before departing from the room. I got up, deciding to take a shower before going back to sleep.

Chris's POV:

As I took a seat in the kitchen getting my morning coffee, Sheila approached me.

"Good morning Chris." she greeted.

"Good morning Sheila." I replied taking a sip of my coffee.

"How's alpha?" She looked at me worriedly.

"She's coming along just fine, no need to worry." I smiled.

"Oh that's good." she said returning my gesture. I finished my drink and placed the cup in the sink before bidding the omegas a farewell and went to training.

Upon five minutes of stretching with the other warriors, Jasper walked up to us.

"Ok, everyone line up!" He yelled and we did as we were told. "As you all should know the alpha was injured and isn't feeling well, so she will not be joining us for training...."

I looked around at the others as I felt the mood of the atmosphere drop dramatically along with the faces of every warrior, including Jasper. I guess they really love her.

'But not as much as we do' Allen pointed out and couldn't help but agree.
