SHIP NAMES: Nuna, Nevilluna, Luneville, Lunaville, Neville/Luna, N/L, NL/LL, S.S. The Government Stole My Toad
THOUGHTS: Nuna used to be one of my OTPs, right after Drarry and Romione, but since I've narrowed down my OTPs to truly only one true pairing, it's fallen a bit in the rankings. Still, I think they'd be cute together, and it's a good ship. This was one of the only ships that I was surprised JKR didn't make canon. Neville and Luna have a lot in common: they've both lost at least one of their parents; they've both been misunderstood and bullied by their peers but have stayed kind and true to themselves; they both stick resolutely to the principles they believe in; they both value and cherish their friends and family; and they're both fascinated by/passionate about magical animals or plants. People have protested the idea of pairing off the two "loners" in my past ship chapters, but I don't think about Nuna in that way. I just think their personalities balance each other out very well. They're a lovely ship, really.
I also think they'd do well with some additions. (OT3s make everything better!) My favorite OT3 for them is Ginevilluna (Ginny/Neville/Luna), but I also see potential in Nunarry (Neville/Luna/Harry), Rolunaville (Rolf/Luna/Neville), Charlunaville (Charlie/Luna/Neville), and maybe Nevmuna (Neville/Hermione/Luna) or Runaville (Ron/Luna/Neville).
Anyway, I like to imagine that if Neville and Luna got together, they would have a beautiful quirky house like the Burrow, filled with magical plants and pets and laughing kids, while Neville gardens and Luna hums to herself as she tries out a new recipe that she thinks will attract Crumple-Horned Snorkacks and, if not, will also be a delicious dinner. Neville would eventually become the next Herbology teacher, while Luna would take regular trips around the world in search of new species, and maybe take their kids with her when they get old enough. It would be a sweet future! So even though Nuna is not at the top of my ship list any longer, I still like it.
RATING: 7/10: I ship it. It's nice. A bit safe and predictable maybe, but still lovable.
