Life Goes On

Chapter Three

The car ride was not too long. Even in the cold weather I wore springy clothes because it is spring. even if its not very warm.

We pulled up to Gus’s house. me and Hailey jumped out while Chad parked the car. We waited for Chad to catch up to us. I grabbed Chad’s hand we walked up to the door together.

I knocked on the door and Gus opened it. I was like “Hey how are you?”

Gus replied “Great come on in.” So I never told anyone this well except Hailey but I used to have the biggest crush on him. So I still feel a little weird around him but not as much.

All three of us walked in and Gus said “Food and drinks are in the kitchen, enjoy.”

I replied “Okay thanks.”Chad walked away with him because they are good friends. Hailey and I went into the Kitchen and got some drinks, Doctor Pepper of course it is like our favorite.

Hailey complained “I wish Carl was here I really miss him a lot.”

I asked “When is he even coming home?”

“He said he should be home in two days.”

“Okay did you tell him about this party?”

“Yeah he told me to go and have a good time.”

“Well you are, right?”

“Yes I am but I still miss him.”

“Yeah of course you do but you can still have fun with me.”

“I know.”

“Let’s go dance.” Gus always has a cleared space like a dance floor with great music playing.

“Yeah sure that would be great.”

Hailey and I danced for about 15 minutes before Chad walked over to us and said “Can I cut in?”

I replied “Why not?” I whispered in Hailey’s ear “Sorry why don’t you just dance with Gus or something?”

Hailey gave me a look like I have a boyfriend. I just looked at her and whispered “So what it not like you're getting married to Gus or anything.”

Hailey replied “Okay I will dance with him.”Hailey turned to Gus and said “Hey why don’t we dance since Chad is dancing with Kylie.”

Gus replied “Sure, why not? I wouldn’t want to leave you hanging.”

Hailey said “Yeah thank you” Gus and Hailey walked away and started dancing on the other side of the dance floor. Me and Chad just looked at each other with a look that said Did that really just happen?

I sarcastically said “Well don’t worry she has a boyfriend nothing will happen.”

Chad replied “Yeah, When is Carl even coming back?” Carl, Gus and Chad are all like best friends so usually they all know what's going on with each other, but I guess not right now.

“Um… Hailey said in two days. Why don’t you know? I thought you were best friends.”

“We are I just have not talked to him lately. With the time difference I just have not found a good time to ask him about all the details. Last time I asked like on wednesday he said he was not sure yet.”

“Okay I see now.”

Hailey came over and grabbed me at like 10:00 saying we had to talk. I walked into the kitchen with her. I asked “What’s wrong?”

She replied “Carl just texted me and said that he has some big news for me.”

“So what’s the problem?”

“Well what if he is breaking up with me?”

“Did he seem happy?”

“Yeah he did.”

“Well then it can’t be that he wouldn’t be happy if he was breaking up with you, he would seem sad and disappointed.”

“I guess you’re right but what else could it be?”

“I have no idea, he is your boyfriend not mine.”

“I know I just have no idea and now I want to know.”

“ Well just calm down it will all be fine. If it was bad news he would say bad news not big news.”

“I think you’re right, and he wouldn’t seem happy either.”

“There you go positive thinking.”

“Okay you don't have to be sarcastic I just really want to know now.”

“Then why don’t you just ask him what it is?”

“Okay good idea.”
