At midnight my dad sent a very worried sounding text, saying “Where are you? It is almost midnight.”
I replied “We are just leaving the party I will be home soon.”
“Okay we just got worried we were not expecting you to be this late.”
It was just me and Hailey at the time and she never told me anything about Carl’s news so I asked “Hey Hailey is there any chance I could go to your house tonight so you can tell me everything?”
She replied “Yeah sure my parents wont care.”
“Okay thanks, I will tell my dad that.” I texted my dad back and said “Change of plans Hailey wants me to stay at her house because it is the weekend. Can I please?”
“Sure that would be fine. Thank you for asking not telling.”
“Okay I will see you tomorrow after work.”
“Okay see you then, Love you.” I didn’t reply to the last one because I can’t honestly say that I love him because of what has happened in the past.
“Hailey my dad said it will be fine for me to stay the night.”
Chad walked in and said “Okay so I only have one stop before home.”
“Yeah thank you for everything tonight.”
“No problem I love doing things for you. No matter what it is I will do it.”
“Thank you.”

Hailey and I walked into her room and I dramatically flopped onto her bed. I pulled my shoes and threw them onto the floor.
I turned to Hailey and asked “Do you have some pyjamas I can borrow?”
“Yeah I just washed my clothes let me find something.”
“Okay thanks.” She walked over to her dresser and opened up the first drawer. She dug through looking and didn’t find anything I’m guessing because then she shoved everything back in and opened the next drawer. Then she pulled out a pair of sweatpants and a purple hoodie. She threw them at me, and pulled out some leggings and a grey hoodie that used to be Carls.
She pulled of her dress dropped it on the floor and put on her hoodie and leggings. I did the same, “So what was Carl’s big news?” I asked
“He told me that he is going to be an uncle in a few months.”
“What? His sister is pregnant?”
“Yeah I am so happy because that means when I mean if we get married then I will already be an aunt.”
“Yeah that will be great. You will be the cool aunt that spoils the kid.”
“Yeah I know right?”
“So did Carl give you that sweatshirt or did you just adopt it?”
“He gave it to me. Well he left it here and never reclaimed it.”
“Left it here?”
“Yeah my parents had him over for dinner and he left it on the couch. So I took it. I asked him if he wanted it back but he said he didn’t care so I kept it.”
“Oh cool story.”
“Yeah thanks. I’m so tired we should go to sleep.”
“Yes we should I have to work tomorrow. Goodnight love you.”
“Love you too.”

At around 1:30 Chad texted me “Goodnight x” I loved the x that he would always have at the end of the messages before bed. It was a kiss that he would always give me if we were together.
I replied “Night x” returning his kiss.
