CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN: "Iñaki's Entry No. 20: Sorry Lyka"

Thinking it all through I realized one thing. I should have just said I love you in all those moments I was with you.

She wasn’t able to come? Bakit kaya? Did she realize that she doesn’t want to go with me after all?

“Talaga? Buti na lang pala kung ganun.” I said. Looking at it on the other side mabuti na ding hindi sya nakapunta dahil I don’t know what I will do to myself kung hinintay nya ako ng matagal kagabi. I still have a chance this upcoming prom I just hope she says yes to me once again.

“May partner ka na ba sa upcoming prom?” I ask.

“Wala pa eh.”

Yes!!!!!!!

“Can I be your partner?” kinakabahan kong tinanong. If hindi sya papayag gagawa parin ako ng paraan para masabi ko sa kanya yung nararamdaman ko this upcoming prom kahit si Terrence pa ang ka-date nya.

“Sure. Why not?” she said with a smile.

“That’s great!” I exclaimed. Hindi ko mapigilan yung tuwang nararamdaman ko. I can’t believe that she said yes!

Later that day…

“Alam mo dude nakakatakot ka na. Kanina ka pa pangiti-ngiting parang baliw dyan.” Sinabi sa akin Troy while we are walking towards the gym.

“Masaya lang ako.” I said still smiling

“Paano ka naman magtatapat sa kanya sa Prom?” he asks me.

“During the last dance. Oh diba sweet?”

“Corny mo!”

“Kung may mas corny sa ating dalawa ikaw yun! Baka naman nakalimutan mo na yung banner na pinagawa mo nung first year saying I love you Grace na ibinandera mo pa dun sa building natin?”

“Wag mo ng ipaalala yang event na yan dude. Gabi gabi parin akong binabangungot sa pangyayaring yun.”

          I really can’t wait for this upcoming Prom. This time there will be no more room for mistakes. Masayang masaya talaga ako ngayong araw na ito. (^___^)

Then came the Big Day…

“Ma, nasan na ba yung tie ko?” I shouted. Kanina ko pa kasi hinahanap pero di ko talaga makita kung nasaan.

“Use your eyes Iñaki and not your mouth. Nandyan lang yan.” My mom shouted from downstairs.

“Finally!” I exclaimed when I saw my tie under one of my pillows.

          After putting up my suit and tie I look at myself in the mirror. I headed towards my study table and I took out the box where I put Lyka’s bracelet.

“This is it Iñaki!” I said to myself and then I went down.

          My mom was waiting for me downstairs and then she gasps in admiration when she saw me running towards her.

“Binata ka na talaga.” She said to me. I smiled and I kissed her cheeks. “Do’t forget to give her this.” My mom said while handing me a corsage she personally made for Lyka.

“Thanks mom.” I said and then I kissed her once again.

“Are you sure sa school na kita ibababa? Hindi mob a susunduin si Lyka?” she asks as soon as we went in the car.

“Sa school na daw kami magkita Ma eh.”

          Ilang beses ko syang pinilit na susunduin ko sya sa bahay but she insisted that we should meet at the venue instead. I don’t like the idea kasi parang hindi naman ako gentleman pero I just said yes dahil baka mas comfortable sya sa ganitong set-up.
