Nev padded slowly through the forest, stopping to look behind him to make sure his kits were following. Drizzle and Jagged were slowly trailing behind him. They obviously looked tired.
"How much farther? My paws feel like they are going to fall off!" Jagged blinked sleepily.
Nev rolled his eyes. "We can stop to rest for the night, I guess."
Nev found an old badger den outside of the clan's territory and led Drizzle and Jagged inside. Nev gathered some moss and brought it back to the den, starting to make nests.
"Why were those cats so mean!" Jagged hissed. Drizzle nodded her head, curious on why the clan cats wouldn't let them join.
"They are just cats you should never trust, they are monsters." Nev replied, curling in a ball at the side of the den. "Tomorrow we are going to find an old friend of mine. If he says yes, you will be living with him."
Drizzle tilted her head. "Why can't you stay with us?"
Nev looked at his daughter, hesitating to answer. "My housefolk don't want two more kittens like you and I must stay with them to keep them company. Now go to sleep, we've got a lot of tracking to do tomorrow."
Drizzle and Jagged nodded and curled in their nests.
Jagged fell asleep right away, but Drizzle couldn't. She thought about where her mother could be and why she couldn't take them with her.

Drizzle woke with a start, looking around the den. For a second she was wondering what she was doing in an old den like this, but then remembered what happened the previous day. She saw her father sitting at the den entrance and nudged her sister awake. They walked out of the den and stood next to their father.
Nev spoke, looking into the distance. "Time to leave."
He got up and walked back into the forest, without waiting for his kits to follow. Drizzle and Jagged raced after him, struggling to keep up.

Drizzle trailed behind Nev and Jagged, her tail drooping. It felt like a moon ago they had started walking.
  "How much farther!?" Jagged groaned.
"Not much farther, I can scent Oak." Nev replied, moving on. Jagged grunted and followed.
Drizzle looked up at the sky for a moment. She thought she could see a cat looking down at her. She shook her head then raced after them.

They finally stopped at a little camp. Nev looked up and jumped through a bush. Drizzle and Jagged heard a hiss of another cat and followed their father.
Drizzle saw a red-brown tom. He was glaring right at her father. That must be Oak!
Nev finally spoke, "Please Oak, we have traveled far to find you and I can't give up hope now. My kits have been rejected by my housefolk and by the clans. Graywind has left to the mountains and couldn't bring them with her. So Oak, please could you take care of Drizzle and Jagged?"
Oak looked at Nev for a moment then stood up. "It's Oaklight now. And how dare you show your face around here after what you did to me?!"
Nev looked back at him, showing no emotion. "I didn't know you were a clan cat now."
"I'm not clan cat! And why can't you take care of your own kits?" Oaklight questioned, curling his lip into a snarl.
"I need to stay with my housefolk."
"So your just going to dump your kits off and make me take care if them? I'd rather let them come with me than stay with a foxheart like you!" Oaklight hissed.
Nev didn't even flinch, he just smiled. "Then it's settled. The light gray one is Drizzle and the other one is Jagged."
Oaklight growled once more and beckoned his tail for the kits to come to him.
The two kits hesitated for a moment and looked at their father. Drizzle shook in fear. Was her father really leaving them?
"Go on, you're no longer my responsibility." Nev meowed. He pushed the two kits forward.
"W-what do you mean? You're our father." Drizzle stammered, jumping to her paws.
Nev shrugged. "I am, but I need to go now. Maybe we'll see each other again, maybe not."
Drizzle and Jagged watched their father go with clouded eyes.
"That cat has always been a rude one. He has trust issues too." Oaklight growled.
Drizzle turned around and looked at Oaklight.
"That stupid furball! I can't believe I'm related to him! Why would he just leave us?!" Jagged spat, digging her claws into the earth.
Oaklight looked at the two kits, his eyes narrowing. "You can trust me. We will get revenge. Revenge on your father and the clans."
Drizzle looked at Oaklight with wide eyes, nodding. With his help, no cat would stand in their way.
