Drizzlestar pressed her muzzle to Oaklight's body, hoping to find some warmth to show somehow he was still alive. But Oaklight was cold as stone.
Leapfrost lyed down beside her, putting his tail on her back to sooth her. Blackstorm was on the other side of her, staring at Oaklight with grief. When Drizzlestar announced that it was Jaggedclaw who killed him, everyone seemed as shocked as she was.
"He was a great cat. He took me in when no one else would." Blackstorm murmured.
"He took me in when my father left me." Drizzlestar whispered.
"He saved me and my father's lives, something I wish I could have done for him." Leapfrost muttered.
Drizzlestar breathed in Oaklight's scent before allowing sleep to drag her away.➳Four Moons Later➳
Drizzlestar woke with a start, getting to her paws to stretch. She walked out of the den, yawning. The camp seemed very different without Oaklight. But the newly made warriors; Featherheart, Flamepelt, Cinderclaw, and Pricklethorn, were teaching the apprentice's some battle moves.
Moonpaw pounced on top of Redpaw, lifting her head up in triumph. "I got you!"
"Not for long!" Redpaw quickly stood up, knocking Moonpaw off her paws. Bluepaw pinned Moonpaw down, smiling.
"Look who's pinned now!" Redpaw yowled.
Flamepelt laughed. She looked at the newest apprentice's, Wolfpaw and Flashpaw. "Why don't you come and try?"
Wolfpaw puffed out his chest. "You bet I will."
Flashpaw turned to his brother and pawed his head, giggling. "Come on, you have to be quicker than that!"
Wolfpaw growled, pinning Flashpaw down. The two cats rolled, batting at each other with their paws.
Drizzlestar smiled as she watched. She shook her pelt before going to the fresh kill pile, picking up a squirrel. After that, she made her way to Blackstorm.
"Mind if I join?" Drizzlestar asked her friend.
Blackstorm nodded. "Of course. And... there's something I've been meaning to tell you."
Drizzlestar lyed down beside the black tabby. "Okay, what is it?"
Blackstorm took a deep breath before replying. "I'm expecting a second litter of kits."
"That's great!" Drizzlestar purred. She spoke again, this time whispering. "Redstrike's kits?"
Blackstorm nodded. "Yes. But I will be saying they're Bloodfire's again."
"Are you sure? You can't keep lying to him. Once he finds out, who knows what he will do." Drizzlestar said.
"And that's why he won't ever find out." Blackstorm meowed fiercely.
"Don't you think he will be suspicious once he sees that the kits look nothing like him?" Drizzlestar continued.
Blackstorm shrugged. "I'll just say they look more like their mother. Look, I love Redstrike, and not even the warrior code will split us apart."
Drizzlestar sighed. "I know how you feel."Drizzlestar awoke from her dream, but she was no longer in her den. She looked around, realizing she was still in FireClan's camp. She looked up at the Hightree, a few cats were sitting on its branches. She squinted her eyes to see who the cat's were, but they were unrecognizable.
"Tiger will lead the shadow better than amber." The cat's around her chanted.
"What does this mean!" She shouted in confusion. But no one answered her.
She stared at the tree one last time before the world around her starting disappearing. She got a glimpse of a fluffy gray tabby tom with yellow eyes, his head held high. Then she blinked open her eyes, revealing the real world.
Drizzlestar stared out of the den, thinking hard to herself. What could that dream possibly mean?
