"Goodbye sunshine...say hello to heavens light...goodbye day light...say hello to night time...good bye....." Elizabeth hummed to herself a tune she made up in her  darkened days. She tried to keep count of how long she had been down there but it was difficult to be exact since she wasn't sure what was day and what was night anymore.

There were no windows, the only time she knew the hours passed was when James came down with food. Depending on what kind of food it was she could tell if it was breakfast lunch or dinner. But sometimes he surprised her by bringing things you'd normally see for breakfast twice during the day.

Her only source of light was the lamps in the small enclosed room.

She spent her days reading and singing, much to James' surprise she seemed calm and seldom cried to be let out. He had even brought her a few cards to play with and some coloring books.

He was beginning to notice how well she had adapted in such a short time.

Elizabeth's cloths were all the same; white. Tops and bottoms and dresses were all white or ivory and had traces of lace. He had told her it was a reminder to stay pure and innocent.

She sat on her small yoga mattress singing with her head against the cool wall when the thick metal door slowly swung open.

"Hello love, how are you feeling?"

Elizabeth looked at her captor, for a while now she had noticed the color of his skin and hair had redeemed a healthier complexion.

"Fine." she responded cooly.

"Good girl, I have something special for you."

When he accentuated the word 'special' Elizabeth rose up to her feet. She had lost weight on James' diet.

Not that he was particular about her weight before but now that she was under his care he only brought her light foods he deemed healthy and only water to drink at all meals.

"R-really?" her eyes sparkled, for many weeks now James' had waited to see her smile again. He was immensely pleased to see her lips part into a grin.

James motioned his head over to her so she could get closer, reluctantly the girl approached him with caution like that of a small dog coming closer to a stranger holding out a piece of meat.

"Open your mouth Elizabeth," he ordered, still not showing her what he had.

She froze in place with wide eyes. That familiar feeling of fear crept up her legs and into her gut.

"Don't be afraid, you'll like it." James' words rung in her ear hypnotically.

She parted her mouth as he instructed, James couldn't help but deepen his smile at her obedience. She had been fairly easy to tame thus far, if things continued the way they are now he hoped she would give consent to their marriage.

If she still refused him however, he had already come up with a final resort to ending his madness.

Purification by fire.

If he could not conquest her, then he would easily get rid of her. She was the source of his undoing, she was his temptress and without her existence he would still be the devout priest that he always wanted to become. She was the source of his demons, the foundation of his sexual desires and it had one outcome; make her belong to him mind, heart, soul and body, or cast her away forever.

He had even thought about going alongside her into the flames of hell.

But James had faith that she would chose him over eternal damnation.
