Zach approached Anne's porch, he was about to knock on her door but she opened it before he could lift his hand.

"Hey," she greeted him, her eyes danced around everywhere except meeting his. The house was dark and quiet, her parents car was not in the driveway.

"Hey um... mind if I come in to talk?"

Anne stepped out of the way and pulled the door further open for him.

"You're folks..?"

Anne locked the door and leaned against it, "they went to go see my brother at Uni, since he couldn't come down here for the break."

Zach raised his eyebrows, "oh... you couldn't go cuz of practice or something? How is your brother ?"

Anne smiled gently at him, "yea, try-outs are soon so I have been training some freshmen. And he's fine just really busy."

She pushed off the door and walked into the living room taking a seat on the brown leather couch, Zach followed and took a seat next to her.

Anne folded her legs like a pretzel on the couch, her hands couldn't stop fidgeting.

Zach felt the silence in the dark living room consume them, he parted his lips and tried to come up with the right words.

Anne looked over at him, catching him in the awkwardness of his attempted speech. His eyes danced around the ceiling and his eyebrows wiggled.

She couldn't help but giggle at how silly he looked being all nervous around her.

"What's so funny?" Zach frowned.

"You!" She laughed a little harder and covered her hand over her mouth, "Zach it's me you don't have to be so nervous,"

Her eyes caught his for a moment, he could see himself reflected into her black abyss iris'.

"I know ... why you're here."

Zach gulped and he clenched his hand.

"I know that you came to tell me, how inappropriate I was... how it was a mistake and that I can't mistake your kindness for anything else, that it's all my fault-"

Zach reached over and clamped his hand on hers that now lay on her lap, " Anne.!"

She was startled with his actions, his body leaned in closer to her and her heart felt like it would stop at any moment.

"It's not" he shook his head " It's my fault not yours. I was being selfish... I'm so selfish..."

His eyes danced in hers , he was so close he could see  clearly how her skin glistened in the moonlight that penetrated through the living room windows. Her lips slowly parted, and he couldn't help but gaze at them; they were a deep pinkish red and appeared moist... almost too moist.

He could smell her, she had a fresh scent almost like a flower, it filled his nose and raised his heart beat.

Anne's eyes took in his whole face, his gorgeous jaw and deep blue eyes the color of the ocean; his fringe dangled over his eyebrows.

"Zach..." her voice quivered, his fingertips now caressed her hand. "Please don't be nice to me.."

"Anne... I need you, I can't keep going on without you, without talking to you everyday. It's driving me insane! I feel so alone ... everyone's gone... my friends at school don't understand , you're ... the only one..."

"Don't." Anne looked away, her brows furrowed.

Zach's hands found her shoulders and he pulled her closer to his body.
