Previous chapters were on the short side so I made this one a tad bit lengthy :)
Victor waited patiently at the end of one of the pews of the chapel for the mass to be over. He had brought with him a small evidence bag.
In his gut he could feel that this chapel held more answers to questions than he realized, it was just a matter of uncovering those answers thoroughly.
Across the great room he could see Anne, her light blond hair stood out in the crowd. He couldn't help but smile a little as he watched her for a few moments. As mass ended everyone stood up and began exiting. He remained seated and waited for the floods of people to exit before trying to get a moment with the priest.
Anne walked down the rows and saw Victor, her eyes shot open.
"Victor? What are you doing back here?" her arms wrapped around herself.
Victor looked at her up and down, somehow she appeared different but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Nonetheless he stood up and scratched the stubble on his chin.
"Came here to speak to the priest," He didn't know how much she knew at this point, the name of the body they found was not released to the press yet. But soon the entire community would become aware of it. At that moment however, he felt it was not the right time to break the news to Anne.
She tilted her head to the side, "Whats it about?" her curious black eyes gazed into him.
Victor relaxed his shoulders, "There's a few things I need to clarify with the priest, I feel as though I am in the right place when I step inside here. I just can't put the pieces together yet," he dug his hands in his pocket. "But I know, answers to my questions are here. They have to be," he said as his eyes wondered around everywhere except back to hers.
Anne looked down at her feet, "You know..." she sighed, "I kinda get what you're saying," the corners of her mouth lifted into a half smile.
"It's why I been coming here a lot more now. I feel like it's the right place to be," She finally looked back up at Victor, "I hope you find what you're looking for,"
Victor smiled back at her, grateful that she didn't press him further for answers. Anne had seemed to change in the last few weeks. She was more calm and seemed to be moving on from both the disappearances, and Victor was happy to see that she appeared to be a normal teenager again. Yet his smile fell when he remembered soon she would find out the inevitable truth about Juliet's murder.
He forced a short smile back at her and excused himself.
Approaching the young priest he bowed his head slightly, "A word Father?"
"Of course," The young priest smiled and stepped down from the altar, "Would you like to speak in my office this time?"
Victor agreed and walked with him towards the back and into the chaples office, he didn't know it but he was standing in the exact same spot where Juliet had been murdered.
"Father....I'm sorry to intrude on you like this again."
The priest sat down in the chair behind the desk but Victor felt restless, his eyes wondered around the room absorbing as much detail as he could.
"not at all, tell me what can I help you with detective?" Asked the young priest as he cupped his hands on the desk.
Victor paced slowly through the room, his eyes caught the black shelving book case with little knick-knacks placed gently a top them.
