A Priest's Deadly Obsession

Chapter 55 - Wanted

"You told me it was a crush, you didn't say anything about how obsessed she was over this guy," Victor said as he approached Zach stepping out of his Jeep.

"What?!" Zach frowned angrily.

Victor pulled out his phone, "I confiscated her dairy, I ready everything."

Zach gritted his teeth, "How dare you! That's private-"

"If I want to solve this case I need to get my hands on anything that could help." Victor said calmly as he watched Zach's rage filled eyes. Victor showed him pictures he took of Juliet's entries.

As her brother read them, the detective' watched his eyes change rage to confusion and eventually began to upset him.

"I...I didn't realize ..."

Victor took back his phone, "Her last entry, she basically writes she's going to see him. Did you know about this?"

Zach shook his head as his hand brushed back some hair from his face.

Victor licked his lip, compelled to tell him about the hair samples and the other findings in the room. He knew he shouldn't but at the same time he wanted Zach's confirmation that what he pictured to be a possible set up, a possible motive was at least somehow probable given the current information in the diary.

"I need you to remain as calm as possible. I am going to ask you some questions and you need to answer me as best as you can." Victor said sternly, "Can I trust you to remain calm?"

Zach's mouth hung a little as the gravity of the detectives words set it in. Eventually after a few seconds of thinking over what he had been asked he nodded.

Victor took a deep breath before beginning, "We found some hair samples and were able to match them to Juliet."

Zach's eyes widened but Victor raised his finger to stop and listen before asking questions.

"The follicles were discovered inside the chapels office, wedged between minuscule cracks of a bookshelf. There was also evidence of bodily fluids in that room and very very small traces of blood." Victor kept his finger held up stopping Zach from bursting.

"In my opinion; I believe that those semen samples are of Father Beckford and of our still missing Albert Tollis. I believe that although the priest rejected Juliet's feelings, she must have found out about the relationship between both of the men and confronted them. She might have threatened to tell the dioceses, either way her knowing would not be convenient to both Beckford and Tollis....and perhaps because of that....."

Victor couldn't finish the rest but he was certain something of the sort had played out, he already knew about the rumors circulating that Albert was a homosexual, Juliet's entries confirmed that Albert and James were always together, she was even jealous of that. But what he couldn't make sense out of this was why Juliet had mentioned Elizabeth in her diary....she seemed jealous of the young girl as well.

Victor frowned and continued, "What doesn't fit into this equation is Elizabeth."

Zach's mouth was dry, "what does she have to do with this?"

Victor shook his head, "I don't know that either. All I know is that your sister did mention her in her diary. At first she seemed jealous of Elizabeth," the words hit Zach hard, he couldn't understand it. "But towards the end when she went missing she felt sorry about it, she didn't want you to be suffering."

Zach clenched his hand closed, "So that's it then? That priest killed my sister? And we're just standing here talking about it?!"

Victor frowned deeply at the teen, "This is mere speculation. I don't have evidence, I'm only going by what was discovered in that room, what I have been told about Tollis and your sisters' writing. I'll need DNA evidence from Tollis and Beckford matching the semen samples to prove this, I'll need fingerprints to possibly match the indentations on Juliet's neck." Victor continued dismissing Zach's face as he twitched from his words
"It's possible that Albert is linked to the crime, perhaps he's run off with James to hide their tracks. But the bottom line is that this scenario links all three people together. What I am saying is that I need their DNA. Right now, all I can issue is a warrant for questioning, they must be brought into my station. My team is preparing to find these men at all costs,"
