“…and I will not tolerate arguing, violent language,-"
“Violent?" I scoff. “Violent language is when Russia's speak. Cursing is another form of adjectives, you're a language teacher, you should know this." I insist on telling her.
“And as I was saying, Kole, I also will lot tolerate smartalecs. You too Chelsie."
Chelsie huffs while crossing her arms. “Fine. Can I go now?"
“Yes." Mrs.Brandon sighs shaking her head.
Both Chelsie and I start to walk towards the door.
“Kole, you stay." She adds.
“Why does she get to leave?" I huff.
“Because I said so." She says opening a drawer of her desk. “I want you to read this." She says pushing a paper my way.
I grab the wrinkles paper from the cold desk my teacher sits behind. “What is it?"
“An essay." She answers. “I promised the student I wouldn't say his name, but he said it was alright for you to read it. It was the essay about people who inspire them."
I sigh.
“I'm not sure how exactly how to start this. Up until recently, I haven't payed attention in class, to actually know how. Anyway, when I'm asked the question, “Who inspires you?" I know I'm lucky enough to see the person who does, everyday. Even though I do see her everyday, I'm sure she hardly notices me, I'm sure she hardly notices anyone at all. Her name is Emo, but I'm sure it's actually Chole, that's what all the teachers call her. Emo is very independent and usually doesn't care what other people have to say about her. For example, she doesn't mind being called “Emo". Not only is Emo independent, but she's smart. I'm sure she makes everyone feel stupid each time she speaks to them. Hell, I bet she could make me feel stupid if she said hello to me. In fact she skipped a grade. Emo, for the past few weeks, has inspired me not to be who I am. When I graduate in a couple weeks, I don't want to be remembered as the quarterback who bullied every one. I would like to be known as the guy who everyone liked because I was nice and helped other people. That's another thing about Emo, she doesn't care if everyone likes her. She only worries about her self, and she gets what she wants, if she really wants it. Like when the school told her she had to take out her nose ring, she demanded that it was violation of school policy, and the student handbook stated students are aloud to express themselves with jewelry, and her noes ring, was in fact, jewelry. I thought that was pretty awesome. Now I also don't know how to end these things. So. Yeah… Emo inspires me.
“Quarterback? This is Tommy Rickey?" I ask in disbelief.
Mrs.Brandon shrugs. “I promised to keep my lips sealed."
“Tommy Rickey is the most popular kid in school though." I answer as if she confirmed.
She nods.
“Like over Chelsie popular." I explain.
“Yeah." She nods.
“Well," I say handing her the paper. “I'm not going to be his friend or anything if that's what you thought."
“Why not Kole?" She huffs. “This is your chance for popularity, friends, fun. Kole, you're a teenage girl, you should be out going to parties and making stupid mistakes."
“Like what sex?"
“Sure!" She says. “Do something!" She says while erasing the whiteboard.
