Ava: My nose feels a little sore as I wake up, I look over and see a girl about my height and probably my age. She turns around and notices I'm starting to wake up. "Where am I? Who are you?" I say since I'm still waking up and everything looks like a blur.
Luna: "The name's Luna Hess and you're in a Burger King."
Ava: My eyes start to adjust and I see that Luna is fairly pretty and I blush a little. I groan and hold my nose a little. "Did you hit me or something?"
Luna: "Yeah I had to make sure you weren't dangerous or anything after I saved you because that would have been a waste on arrows."
Ava: "Why did you save me?"
Luna: "I've never seen you around these parts and...you seem different. Can't put my finger on it."
Ava: "Well thank you, I guess."
Luna: "No problem." I get up and head back trying to keep myself warm next to the fire. "So...you seem new to the terrain. Must have just gotten out of the Penitentiary."
Ava: "Well...not really...I escaped."
Luna: "Oh? How old are you?"
Ava: "17."
Luna: I scoff. "You probably only had a few weeks until they released you."
Ava: "I had 8 months. I just...couldn't take it in there. The way they treat the girls there and men sometimes. What about you? What Penitentiary are you from?"
Luna: "Well I'm 18, but I'm not from one. I'm from Sector 713."
Ava: "713? That's in Texas."
Luna: "Yep. My parents weren't so thrilled about the new laws either. So when they had me and my younger sister...they hid us. At least I got to travel around a lot, which taught me how to survive. A lot of twisted people out there..."
Ava: "A sibling? You have a sibling?!"
Luna: "Used to...she's gone now..."
Ava: "Oh...I'm sorry, I've just never heard of someone having a sibling before."
Luna: "It's cool, dude. I've dealt with the loss years ago." I sigh and look back over at Ava over my shoulder. "Let's...lighten the mood a little. When you were out I went through your bag. Your stuff is over there." I point over to the counter.
Ava: I sit up slowly and didn't even realize my backpack felt lighter. I walk over to retrieve my things.
Luna: "So why'd you escape?"
Ava: "I plan on killing the Commander and putting an end to this."
Luna: I chuckle softly then burst out laughing. "Oh God, that's funny. You know he's in Sector 917? That's New York, and we're in Sector 804...Virginia. That's going to be a long trip.
Ava: The commander is basically the President but instead of serving 4 years the commander stays in office until they die of old age or a disease and they act more like a dictator. It was proposed after Trump talking about the idea in 2019 and after he was out of the office, other Presidents started to give into the idea and the rest is history. "Well...then will you help me on my journey? You seem to know how to survive and plus you travel a lot which is a bonus."
Luna: I turn around fully and look Ava dead in her eyes and see that she's serious. "Sure...I'll join ya. I have nothing else to do." I shrug.
Ava: "Really? That easy?"
Luna: "Yep. But you listen to me whenever I'm giving out instructions, got it?"
Ava: "Got it." I smirk.
Luna: "Good. If you want anything to eat I opened up a can of beans a few hours ago. Didn't finish them though. Also, we leave in an hour. Looks like we're going to kill us a Commander."
Ava: I smile with joy at my new partner.
