Chapter 13

Ava: Luna and I walk next to each other side by side.

Luna: "We need to find a car. Once we do we can make our way to New York. It's not that safe to be out here walking for too long." I turn my head slightly to look at Ava. "You know how to drive?"

Ava: "No...they never taught us it down there."

Luna: "All right, that's nice to know. Well, I do so there's no need to worry."

Ava: We walk in silence a little looking for a car in good condition until I break the awkward silence. "So is there anything I need to know about the outside world? Before I come face to face with the problem. Like are there mutants or something?"

Luna: "Mutants? Like in the X-Men?"

Ava: "Yeah."

Luna: I chuckle. "No there aren't any mutants. But there are robots, they kinda serve as police officers and security. Gotta be extra careful with them."

Ava: "Wow...like Robocop?"

Luna: "Robo what?"

Ava: "It's a movie when...well it doesn't really matter I guess. Anything else?"

Luna: "More up in the higher class is mostly where everything is futuristic looking and the perfect obedient wife and working husband are usually are, living an oh so perfect life. So if we ever have to cross paths through those areas just play along. I don't want you getting hurt or anything," I say looking her in the eyes.

Ava: I stop walking with her and look at her back in her hazel eyes and I blush softly from the comment. "Thanks."

Luna: "No problem." I turn my head and see a perfect car parked alongside the curb. "There!" We both run over and I run over to the tank, look inside and see that it's empty. Then I head to the hood of the car to look for any problems and when I open it up, I see there's no car battery. "Wonderful."

Ava: "What? What's wrong?" I come over.

Luna: "There's no gas and no battery." I sigh "We...we might have to split up just for a while to go get the two things."

Ava: "It would make things a lot faster. Since I don't know what a car battery looks like, I'll get the gas and you get the battery."

Luna: "Sounds good to me." I pull out my bow and one arrow from my back. "Be safe."

Ava: "You too." We nod and walk off in different paths.

Luna: As I'm walking around the town for about seven minutes I pull up to an AutoZone. I see a ton of old, rusty cars surrounded around the place. "Maybe there's a battery here?" I jog slowly and quietly and try to stay hidden between the junction of cars just in case there's someone around. I walk in and draw my bow and aim, ready for anything. I walk slowly around, listening for anyone and trying to find a battery. "Where are you?" I whisper. I walk through an aisle of tires until I stop in my tracks from hearing a sound of a gun cocking. I turn around slowly and see a guy around my age but a little older holding a shotgun.

Guy: "Put the bow down! I need a girl to get me up into the upper class. So you're gonna come with me and be my fucking wife! So...either put it down and live a happy life or I'll shoot and you'll end up a dead bitch."

Luna: Seeing him, I slowly lower my bow and listen to him until he calls me a bitch. I start to get a little mad from being called a bitch. So I release my arrow and it flies through the air and hits him in the chest and I take off running, hiding in the aisles.

Guy: "You fucking bitch!" I yank out the arrow and start to chase after. I see her turning into an aisle and quickly take the shot but mess and hit the shelf. "Can't run forever. I was gonna let you live...but now you're as good as dead."

Luna: I try to keep my breathing down and I quickly get another arrow out and aim it and wait for him to turn the corner. He slowly starts to turn and I take the shot and hit him in his right thigh. I take off running again.

Guy: "Agh!" I yank out the arrow and start to get pissed, I start shooting up at the air and around me randomly.

Luna: "Still need the battery..." I mumble to myself. "Wait..." I turn around and see that I've been laying up against it. "Yes..." I grab it and now wait for the guy to get close enough to me.

Guy: I storm down each aisle fast and turn each corner even faster.

Luna: I hear him about to come to my aisle and right when I hear that he's close enough; I swing the car battery and hit him across the face with it, making him drop his gun. I put the car battery down for a second and grab his shotgun, cock it and look down at his bleeding face. "If you survive this somehow...learn not to call women bitches." I then take the shot and shoot him in the stomach. I toss the gun across the room, grab the car battery and make my way back to the car. Hoping Ava isn't having as much trouble.

Ava: As I'm walking around I come across a gas station. "All right now I'll just something to hold the gasoline." I walk into the little gas station store looking. I come across a gas can on the ground, I pick it up but before walking out I keep looking around. "Wow...I would rather be here than that weird Starbucks place. I hear talking in the distance and I quickly crouch down.

Boyfriend: I'm holding my girlfriend's hand yanking her with me to catch up. We both walk into the gas station store. "Keep up, bitch! Thanks to you we're fucking lost." I push her over into the wall. I storm off and walk through the aisles looking for anything to eat.

Girlfriend: "I'm sorry, I'll try to obey your orders and listen more..."

Boyfriend: "You keep fucking saying that but you're not making any changes!!" I grab a really old Snickers and throw at my girlfriend hard.

Ava: I'm watching and listening to everything going down. I look over at the girl and see her get hit by the candy. I also see bruises on her body and tears. "I need to help her," I say in my head. I pull my gold sword out slowly out of my sheath and crouch walk to the guy.

Girlfriend: I look over and see the girl walking on the ground, she looks at me back and tells me to be quiet to not reveal her.

Boyfriend: I look over at my girlfriend looking at something and get out my gun. "The fuck are you looking at over there?" I walk over and see nothing there. I turn around to my girl and clench my fist. "Are you losing your shit or something? I should just fucking kill you for making me walk over here and waste my tim-..."

Ava: I slice the guy's head off with one swipe and it falls to the ground alongside with his body. I see the girl isn't even in shock or scared but more so happy and relieved. "You're free now."

Girlfriend: "Thank you so much."

Ava: "Well...here," I say grabbing the guy's gun and handing it to her.

Girlfriend: "Thanks...but it has no bullets. He just carried it around to act tough."

Ava: I think for a second and quickly go into my bag and hand her my Glock and extra bullets. "Here...you need this more than I do."

Girlfriend: "Thank you once again," I say grabbing the items. I rush over and hug the girl and break it within seconds. "I won't forget this. I hope we cross paths again." I smile and run off, out of the store and in my own direction.

Ava: I smile, feeling warm inside for what I just did for her. "Now back to the main mission." I go back and get the gas can, get the gasoline and head back to the car. Within a few walks, I see Luna in the distance and we both approach the car at the same time.

Luna: "Had any trouble?"

Ava: "Not much just guy problems."

Luna: "Same here." I put the battery in the car and hook up whatever I need to, then take the gasoline from Ava and put it in the car. We both get into the car and I start to hotwire it.

Ava: I watch what Luna is doing just in case it comes in handy. Then in about 3 minutes the car starts to rumble and turn on.

Luna: "We're good to go." I smile and put my hands on the wheel. "Ready?"

Ava: "Always."

Luna: I put the gear shift into Drive, press my foot on the gas and we take off to our next destination.
