Chapter 15

Luna: After for what feels like a 3 hr ride with constant bathroom breaks. I start to slow down as we approach the, Welcome to Washington sign. I pull over and put the car in park and look over at Ava and see her sleeping peacefully. But nap time is going to have to come to an end, I shake her gently trying to wake her up.

Ava: I groan and shift around in the seat. "Are we there yet?" I say waking up and rubbing my eyes.

Luna: "Well we're in Washington now, right in front of the sign." I reach in the back seat trying to get something. "Come on let's go take a picture in front of it."

Ava: "How are you going to take a picture?"

Luna: "With this polaroid, that I found in a 7/11 and pwease. It'll be a nice memory to look back on."

Ava: "Trust me I don't think I'll forget any of this...but if it'll make you happy then sure." I grin and cough a little into my elbow.

Luna: "Yay!" We both get out of the car and walk up a little closer to the sign. We see spray paint over the sign which says, Sector 202. We both stand in front of it, I hold out my arm and flip the camera around so that the lens is on us. "Smile!" Once I think we got the shot I take the picture and seconds later see our picture coming out. I grab it and start to wave it in the air so that it'll show. After a while, it appears.

Ava: "Nice photography skills. That's a keeper," I say overlooking her shoulder to see it, then I head back to the car.

Luna: "Yeah it is..." I mumble to myself. We both get back in the car, I put the gear shift in drive and drive off. Ten minutes into the drive, I side eye Ava real quick. "So when you were locked up...did you have any friends in there?"

Ava: "I had a friend. His name is, Lucas. Best friend since forever...he helped me escaped. I just hope that he's okay and that he found a way to escape. I would love for the two of y'all to meet." I chuckle.

Luna: I smirk.

Ava: "What about you? I mean I know you weren't in the Penitentiary, but did you make any friends along your journey?"

Luna: "Um...yeah but most of them either died, lost touch with them, got caught by those Robocops or turned into my enemies."

Ava: "Wow...well I'm your friend. I can't really promise the first 4 things you said because I don't know how this is going to turn out. But...I will never be your enemy or leave your side." I say with a smile and grab her hand, letting her know that I'm serious.

Luna: I blush a little from the hand holding. "Thanks...and ditto to you too." We both chuckle then all of a sudden start to hear the car make noises and slow down. "Shit! No, no, no...the car is breaking down...we were so close to entering the city too." I sigh and pull over.

Ava: "We should check the trunk...to see if there's anything useful in there?"

Luna: "Yeah, sure." We both get out the car at the same time and head back to the trunk. I open it up and we see some spare tires, air pump, crowbar and a pair of rollerblades.

Ava: "Maybe we can use the rollerblades to go down the hill and the other person gets on their back?"

Luna: "We flip a coin to see who uses the blades?"

Ava: "Go ahead."

Luna: I dig in my pocket and pull out a 2020 rusty penny. "Heads or tails?"

Ava: "Tails."

Luna: I flip the coin and it lands on tails. Moments later we're gathering all of our stuff and Ava is putting on the blades. "You can carry me on your back, can you?"

Ava: "Yeah, it'll be easy." I stand up holding onto the car and my feet keep rolling in different directions. "Woah! Okay...I got this..."

Luna: "I hope so..." I quickly hop on Ava's back and she holds my legs. With the sudden force from me, we start to roll slowly about to go downhill.

Ava: "Probably a bad time to tell you, but I don't know to rollerblade..."

Luna: "Wha-...?!" I get interrupted by the sudden rush of the both of us riding down the hill at high speeds. I hear Ava screaming and I can't help but do a mixture of cheering and laughter. "Come on, Ava this is fun!"

Ava: "Are we done yet?!" We get into the city but since we're going so fast, I can't stop myself and meanwhile I try my best to dodge the cars scattered everywhere. 

Luna: "All right this would be a good time to slow down..."

Ava: "I don't know how!" I then end up making a wrong move with my feet and we swerve and hit a car. The both of us yelp, roll over the car and hit the ground. Knocking the both of us out.
