Chapter 31

Ava: "Sorry to hurt your ego, but if you think for a second...you'll win. You're mistaken." I say getting up off the ground even though it feels like my ribs are broken. "You want to fight? Just me and you? Bring it the fuck on." I grab both of my throwing knives and hold them tightly in my hand.

Atlas: "That's more like it."

Ava: I run up and swing on him and cut him on the side of the face, his blood splatters onto the floor. I see him curl his hand into a fist and aim for the front of my nose. I dodge to my left and I see him cock his right leg back and he roundhouse kicks me in the side. I roll onto the ground and once I stop I throw one of my knives that hit him in the shoulder.

Atlas: "Argh!" I yank it out of me like it's nothing. "Thanks for your weapon."

Ava: I quickly get up and we both start to fight each other with the knives trying to slice and stab one another. He cuts my arm and stomach and I stab him in his leg and cut his lip. He tries to stab me in the eye and I duck, hitting the ground. I look up at him and uppercut him in the face. Once he's a little stunned I stab him in the body repeatedly quickly. Hoping that doing this will end things quickly.

Atlas: I punch Ava across the face to get her to stop and she falls to the ground. I hold onto my stomach and see blood start to seep through. "You fucking stupid bitch." I grab Ava by the hair and start to drag her over to the window. Once we get there, I grab her by the throat and lift her up and slam her against the window. "Now..." I slam her again making a little crack in the window "...this is where you die. It's a shame. I kind of thought we would've made a cute couple in the beginning." I smirk.

Ava: I feel his hand squeezing tighter around my throat second by second, about to break it with his bare hands. "Not...even...in your dreams," I say trying to gasp for air. I hit and scratch him trying whatever to loosen his grip.

Atlas: "Goodbye Av-..."

Ava: Blood splatters onto my face and I see an arrow through Atlas's left eye and that the arrow was two inches away from hitting me. He lets me go and I fall to the ground. I quickly crawl out of the way.

Atlas: "N-no...it's not...over...ye-..."

Lucas: I run towards Atlas and drop kick him and he goes through the glass and falls thousands of feet from the top building. We all run over and see him landing on a car, not moving. "That's for back at the Penitentiary!"

Ava: I see all 3 of you guys and without them, I would've been dead by now. "You guys saved me...w-we did it," I say sounding like I'm dreaming.

Luna: "We sure the hell did!" I chuckle and run up and hug Ava and everyone else joins in for a big family hug.

Diego: "Well you know the rules. The person that successfully kills the Commander, becomes the Commander their self."

Ava: "I literally didn't know that till now. I was just trying to make a change hopefully."

Luna: "Well now you can do that. As our first female Commander."

Ava: I walk back over to the window and look back down and see that Atlas's body is gone, but don't say anything.

Luna: I walk over and grab your hand.

Lucas: Diego and I walk over. "So what's the first thing you plan to do as our new Commander.

Ava: "I...I literally have no fucking clue." I say as we all look out at the horizon watching the sun coming up.
