Chapter 30

Ava: It's night time now and all 4 of us are dressed in all black, with each of our weapons ready to go. We all leave the Penthouse and go into the black SUV. Diego starts her up and we head to the tower.

Luna: "Whew getting a little nervous, not going to lie. What if we...die or something? I mean I know this is a book and they wouldn't kill the main characters but what IF?

Diego: "Calm down, I'm sure we'll be fine. We've all done a bunch of crazy stuff that should've killed us by now but didn't, because we survived. So I have a good feeling about this."

Ava: I sit by Lucas and I watch him get on the computer and try to hack the security system. "I still have no idea how you taught yourself this. You were literally with me in the Penitentiary all the time."

Lucas: "Well mostly during classes, and late at nights. But as you can tell it was worth it." I smirk and we pull into an alley close to the tower. Turn off the car and blend in with the darkness. "Almost done you guys..." I push a few more buttons and click on some more things and just like that I'm finished. "There! We're good to go."

Diego: We all get out of the car and hide behind cars even though no one can really see us because of the all black. "Are you sure the door is unlocked?"

Lucas: "Yep, it's minimum security in there late at nights. But once we get in there, they'll probably start to come.

Ava: I take a deep breath and stand up. "Let's do this." I walk over to the front door and everyone follows behind me. I open the door slowly and walk in and see that the lights are dim and no one is in sight. "To the elevator..." We all start to walk quietly and slowly to the elevator on edge because something doesn't feel right.

Luna: "I have a bad feeling about this. We should've at least heard one person by now."

Ava: We get to the elevator and the door opens up and we see a grenade. "Shit..." Without even getting a chance to react. It explodes and we all fly back and hit the ground. I hear little-muffled sounds of yelling and feet charging into the building. I look up and see guys with armor and guns aiming at us. "How did they kno-...?" I get interrupted by the sound of Diego shooting. I feel myself getting lifted and see Luna and Lucas. We hide behind some couches while Diego tries to draw attention to himself by shooting.

Luna: I get my bow and arrow ready and look for a weak spot. I look at them all and see that their necks are exposed. "Gotcha..." I start releasing my arrows watching it go through their necks.

Lucas: I move from my spot trusting that Luna will watch Ava. I use my stealth to sneak up on one of them and start to use my ax on their necks trying to get a clean cut through.

Diego: As I'm shooting I get hit in the shoulder and quickly take cover behind a pillar. I dig in my pocket and pull out two grenades. I pull the clip and throw both of them. But before doing that I whistle to my team to give them a heads up. Once I've heard them go off. I go back to the fight and start shooting again. As I'm going around the room, I drop one of my guns since I'm running low on ammo and pick up one of the AKs. "That's what I'm talking about..." I smirk. I look around and see that we're getting close to winning. Until more guys start running through the doors to join the party. "Shit..." I look around and look back at my team. "Hey, guys! I've got this handled, hurry up and go to the steps! I'll cover you!" I see them nod in agreement and make a run for it. Some of the guys spot them trying to run but I shoot them down before they even get the chance. "Good luck you guys..."

Luna: "We can do this guys. We just have to keep moving." I say practically sprinting up these steps. We start to gain hope that we might have a chance until we hear a door being kicked down from above us. "Fuck...get ready..." I get ready and immediately once I see one I start shooting my arrows. As Lucas and Ava join the fight we keep heading up the steps while fighting them at the same because we're not going to let them stop us.

Lucas: "Luna behind you!"

Luna: Without even looking. I grab one of my arrows out of a dude's neck and shove into the guy's eye behind me without even looking. As I'm fighting I notice some don't have guns and instead knives so I decide to do hand to hand combat to save on my arrows. I flip the guys, break their arms, shatter their ankles, all while trying to look for a way up as we start to get crowded. I whistle to Lucas and Ava and give them the look to go on without me. I look at the look on Ava's face and I know she doesn't want to leave me alone, but she knows it's for the best right now. "Hey, assholes! Over here!" I say trying to get all of their attention. "Come and get some bitches!"

Lucas: I'm holding Ava's hand while running up the steps and going to the door that they kicked on and heading to the elevator for a second try. "Don't worry Ava...she's got this. I've seen and heard her take down a whole building worth of guys. She's got this and so does Diego."

Ava: "Yeah...y-you're right..."

Lucas: We get in the elevator still holding hands and start to go up to the top floor where the Commander is. I sigh, then smirk, then start to laugh. And Ava looks at me confused. "You know we started this off together and now...we're ending it together well and the help of two other people. Just feels like this was meant to be..."

Ava: "Yeah it is funny I guess. We sure have grown up a lot...I really didn't expect that I would really be here doing this."

Lucas: "I know...wonder what it would have been like if I didn't help you escape and we kept living there..." As we get closer to the floor I hear shouting and guns being cocked. "All right here's the plan...they are 100% going to be guarding that door no matter what. So...I'll help you get in the vent system above us, you shimmer around until you get into his office. All right?"

Ava: "Yeah..." I reach for my sword and hand it, Lucas. "Here. Just in case. I know you're skilled with an ax but here's this just in case."

Lucas: I smirk. "Thanks." As we get closer to the stop. I quickly give Ava a boost up to the ceiling of the elevator. She opens up the little hatch. "Ready...now!" The elevator stops and starts to open up. I push her up and she gets on top and sees a vent right in front of her, where she rips it open and crawls in.

Ava: As I get in I hear Lucas charging into the fight and gunshots going off. "He's fine...Ava, they're all fine. Just keep moving forward. I keep shimming through this maze of a vent. But what feels like forever I come up to the end and look down the opening and see the Commander sitting at his desk calmly like nothing is happening. "Cocky bitch," I mumble and grab one of my throwing knives. I take a deep breath and open up the vent, fall out of it with grace. "Agh!" He gasps and looks up and I slam the throwing knife through the middle of his eyes and land down right in front of him. "Who's the Commander now, bitch?" I take it out of him and stab him in the head two more times for safety precautions. I gasp and look and all the blood rushing out of his head. "That was easy...a little too easy." I turn around and look to see what he was working on. But before I get a good chance to my Spidey senses start to tingle and I turn around and see Atlas swinging through the glass behind me and kicking me in the chest. I go flying over the desk and roll on the ground trying to stop. "H-how...did you..."

Atlas: "Come on Ava you still haven't learned your lesson now, haven't you? I was the one that warned them that you and your team would be coming. I figured instead of chasing you around. I can just meet you at the place you intend to come to. No matter where you go...I'll always be there. Now let's finish this. Just you and me now, the final showdown that was meant to be."
