The Girlfriend
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~

A warm cup of hot chocolate in one hand and a good book in the other, Krissy felt at ease. It was her day off and she was home alone. Her kids and husband were off in their own life, leaving her in her quiet home for once.

They had moved into a larger home, still in the city. The kids each had their own room, considering they were teens now. They were even more disruptive and wild than before, but she loved them anyway. They were her whole world.

Zac was a senior in high school, being eighteen. He loved the attention he got; thanks to his dad's good looking genes. He was captain of the football team, had amazing grades, and still managed to be somewhat of a good kid. He still was his father's son, being a bad boy and womanizer at heart. Yet, he was still mommy's little boy.

Kate and Miranda were now fifteen and freshmen in high school. They were new to that world. Kate loved basking in the glory while Miranda was always found studying. Krissy was able to see herself in her.

"Mom!" She heard being shouted. She widened her eyes before slamming the book shut. She placed the mug on the coffee table, letting out an annoyed breath. She was supposed to be home alone. It was Friday. Blake and Zac would be at their own football game and Kate would be on the sidelines at Zac's. She cheered, being the only freshmen on the team. Miranda would more than likely be at the library. Krissy swears she's best friends with the cute old librarian.

"Yes?" She asked, turning around. She saw her son in his uniform. He had everything but the helmet. She was confused as to his presence but didn't bother asking. She let him speak first.

"If we win tonight, can I throw a party?" Zac asked with a hopeful gleam. She wanted to laugh, but instead shook her head.

"I thought Evan or was it Nate that was throwing one?" She asked. Those were his two best friends. They were inseparable yet so different from one another. It was like her and Morgan. Opposites do attract!

"It was Nate, but his dad is home. So can I throw one? Please mommy." He asked. She sighed. Maybe she could go over to the Stone's for the night. Blake would certainly love seeing his best friend and twin sister.

"Fine. If your dad says it's okay, go ahead. You know the rules! Be careful and don't break anything." She told him sternly. He nodded, running off to where he was going. She sighed, getting up. She might as well go pack a bag for the weekend.

Saying bye to her driver, she saw the Stone's home. It wasn't as big as their mansion in the city, but relatively big for someone in the suburbs of the Bronx. She walked up to the house, letting herself in. They never answered the door. Plus, she had a key.

"Hello? Anyone home?" She shouted. Their dog Sasha came running into the foyer. She dropped her bag and took off her coat. It was October and it was beginning to be chilly. It would soon begin to snow. She quickly pet the dog's head upon seeing her best friend and sister-in-law walk in.

"Kris? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at the game?" Sophie asked. They hugged. Sophie was still the short brunette with hazel eyes. She had slight bags in her eyes from the endless nights grading papers. She was now a high school teacher, teaching Zac. She was also her own daughter's teacher, Ashley, but she is now attending NYU.
