third p.o.v

a week later

donghyuck let out a sigh of relief when he got his report card back. his science grade had been upgraded to a good mark of 89%.

his mom was proud of him, and was now officially letting him out on weekends with no limitations.

well, as long as he was being responsible, that is.

when spring break came around, he was spending most of it with mark. they had planned a day to attempt to get mark's mom into rehab, and today was that day.

mark had to sign a few papers and that took a while, but donghyuck was willing to stay beside him the whole time until he finished. mark handed the lady the papers, she secured them with a paper clip.

"i'll call you tonight and tell you when it's best to bring your mother in, alright?" mark nodded, standing up and bowing to the lady behind the desk. "thank you."

both boys left the rehab sign up office and walked down the street, letting their feet go where they wanted.

"so..." donghyuck stared at the ground, kicking a few small pebbles onto the road. "this is really happening."

mark nodded, looking up at the grey clouds that began to form. "and i'm glad it is. i've wanted this to be over for the longest time, but at the same time, i had a fear."

mark stopped walking, grabbing both of donghyuck's hands and turning to face him. "i feared that if i told anybody about my mom's drinking problem, then i would be forced to go back to canada, where my dad isn't even alive..."

the sky was now completely coated in clouds, the smallest rain drops beginning to fall.

"and if that actually happened, i would be alone," mark stared deeply into donghyuck's eyes. "without you."

donghyuck tried so hard not to break down right then and there. what mark was saying was absolutely true; if he told someone, he'd be sent back to his hometown where his dad was dead, meaning he would never see donghyuck again.

at the same time, donghyuck didn't want mark to keep his secrets bottled up like he did.

rain pelleted both boys who just stood there, staring at each other. donghyuck had begun silently crying, his tears mixing with the raindrops that fell.

mark willingly kissed donghyuck, the youngest boy slightly going on his tippy toes. donghyuck wrapped his arms around mark's neck, while mark wrapped his around donghyuck's waist, holding him close.

it wasn't a deep kiss, but it resembled how happy and relieved they were to finally be together.

no more problems.

no more hidden pain.

just love.

when both boys separated, they connected hands and sprinted back to mark's house, not worrying about anything else.

. . .

when they arrived, mark sent donghyuck upstairs to his bedroom. he told the younger that he was going to deal with his mom.
