"Are you the new girl?" The teacher's voice pulled Athena back to reality. She looked at her and nodded, causing the young woman to smile. "Welcome to Belleville. My name is Mrs. Peterson, your seat will be next to Gerard." She pointed to the boy in the back, causing him to fake a smile and wave.

Athena nodded, becoming even more anxious than before. "Thank you, and I'm sorry for being late. I got lost." She said softly. Mrs. Peterson laughed quietly, shaking her head.

"Don't worry about it, sweetheart. Just go take your seat."

Athena hesitated, but walked to the back. She set her books and such on the table, taking her seat. Gerard looked at her, rolling his eyes a bit. He did not want to be near her, so he decided that he would be a dick.

"One, ditch the accent. It's stupid. Two, your hair needs to be in a ponytail." He looked at her. Athena rolled her eyes, pulling her hair into a neat ponytail. Gerard watched, his eyebrows raising when he saw her ear piercings. "You have to take your rings out, including the one in your nose."

"Says who?" Athena looked at him, her eyebrows now raised. Gerard smirked challengingly and pulled out his copy of Mrs. Peterson's Chemistry Class' rule book, showing her the "dress code" rules. Athena sighed, pulling out the rings. She put them in the pocket of her blazer and crossed her legs, listening to Mrs. Peterson teach. It was hard, though. Especially with Gerard tapping his pencil next to her. Athena bit her lip, trying not to let it bug her.

This boy, who had to be eighteen, a legal adult, annoyed the shit out of her. He pissed her off, and it was only her first day at Alexander Hamilton Private School. Athena's nails dug into her thighs as she kept herself from lashing out on the boy. She didn't want to deal with him, but she had to, and she knew that there was no way out of it. Now they were lab partners, and she quite literally wanted to die.

"Ms. McCracken, is there something on your mind?" Mrs. Peterson asked. Athena looked up, and shook her head.

"No, sorry. It's just hard to pay attention when Gerard's over here talking to me and tapping his pencil. He was also distracting me in my last class. It's like he's obsessed with me." Athena challenged, holding back a smirk. The class oohed, causing Gerard to narrow his eyes.

"Well, I was just informing her that she was breaking the dress code." He crossed his arms. Mrs. Peterson sighed, looking between the two.

"Don't make me talk to you two again." She turned back to the board, the students falling silent.

As soon as class was over, Athena was out of there. She walked to her locker and grabbed her gym bag, walking down to the girls locker room. She walked in, running her fingers through her hair. The group of girls that were already in there shot her a look, then continued their conversations.

Athena changed into the gym uniform; a plain white tee, black shorts, and black sneakers. She set her glasses down and looked into the mirror, sighing when she saw all the bruises, scars, and scabs that littered her white skin. She fixed her ponytail, chewing on her bottom lip when she saw the black roots growing in. She walked into the gym, grinning when she saw none other than Frank Iero.

He made her day much better. They were misfits, and seemed to fit perfectly together. She walked to the younger boy, her smile never disappearing as she greeted him.

"Hey, Frank." Athena leaned against the wall behind them, Frank looking her up and down.

"You look like a hot mess." He looked up at her, his green eyes bright. "Are you alright? It looks like you got beat up." He said, his eyes then landing on the cut on her cheek.

"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I'm just clumsy, I fall a lot." Athena shrugged and looked around the practically empty gym. The two were early, the majority of the other students  were still in the locker rooms. It looked like an ordinary gym, but darker. There wasn't a lot of lighting, and the wood on the walls and floors were dark, but you could still see pretty well.

Some more students piled into the gymnasium, having their own conversations. Frank would point out each one and describe them to Athena.

Then Gerard walked in with Raymond.

Frank sighed, looking at her. "The raven haired boy who looks pissed off is Gerard. He's an asshole. He only cares about himself, a few of his friends, and his brother. He brags about every girl he sleeps with and shit like that. The other one is Raymond, but everyone calls him Ray. He's actually a good guy. He just acts like an asshole. I'm honestly not sure why, either. I used to be friends with them, but... Things happened." Frank shrugged.

Athena looked at him. He was hurt, she could see it in his eyes. "What kind of things? If you don't mind me asking."

"I dated Gerard last year, but then something changed in him and he started acting like... This. I don't know what it was. Then one day, we got into a fight over  him beating up some kid and he broke up with me." He said softly, training his eyes on Gerard. Gerard was laughing and joking with Ray; he genuinely looked happy.

"I see." Athena said after a moment, watching the older boy. He looked over, his eyes landing on the two.

  And his smile dropped.

He turned back to Ray, conversing with him quietly. Athena looked at Frank, furrowing her eyebrows.

"What do you think they're talking about?"

"I'm not sure." He sighed. "It could be anything, really."

When she looked back over to the two boys, they were approaching them.
