"Athena..." Ray sighed as his arms wrapped around her. Athena shifted her position on the couch, hugging him back. She had a concussion, so Bert agreed to keep her out of school for the rest of the week and let Ray come over to help her with her work.

"I'm fine." She whispered, pressing her face into his shoulder, taking in his scent. Mint.

"What really happened?" He sighed. Athena bit her lip.

"I told you. I fell down the stairs." She mumbled, but Ray still refused to believe her. He knew when she was lying, only he could catch on.

"What did your dad do?" He urged. Athena sighed, rubbing her face.

"Pushed me down the stairs." She mumbled, hanging her head. "I'm sorry."

"What for?" Ray asked, holding her hand. Athena's body visually stiffened, then she slowly relaxed.

"Lying to you." She finally said, her words hanging out in the open. Ray sighed.

"Listen, Athena. It's fine. But we need to call the cops, I can't let this go on, okay? He's mentally and physically abusing you, it'll become sexual too. I've seen it before." He whispered. Athena started shaking her head.

"I- No. I graduate next year, I can survive another year." She mumbled, pulling back completely. "Plus, after finals I'm moving back to Britain. He won't be able to do anything there. We live with my mum, siblings, and grandparents." She explained, playing with the ends of her hair. Ray sighed, looking at the scattered papers on the coffee table.

"I wish you didn't have to go." He finally muttered. Athena sighed.

"I know, but my dad doesn't want to stay here longer than we have to. I was only going to be here for the first semester, I got lucky with the second." She sighed. Ray grabbed his water, taking a sip.

"Gerard's going to be devastated. He really does love you." He said softly. Athena sighed.

"We'll make it work." She said after a few moments. She never even thought about how she would have to leave Gerard. She hated the idea of it. "I'll have to leave all of you." She whispered, the realisation hitting her like a ton of bricks. "I don't wanna." She hugged Ray, pressing her face into his neck. Ray ran a hand through her hair, the other rubbing her back.

"It'll be okay, A. We could always video chat." He took a deep breath. "Plus, it's a while away." He whispered. Athena nodded, pulling back.

  "Thank you, Ray."

"He cheated." Athena whispered, her heart broken. She was sitting with Frank in their English class. It was the first day back, and she had caught Gerard sleeping with some girl the night before. Frank sighed and pulled her into a hug.

"I know, sweetheart. I know." Frank whispered and rubbed her back, trying to comfort her. Athena shook her head, clinging on to his blazer tightly.

"You don't understand." Athena cried, holding into him. "I hate him, Frank. I actually hate him." She cried. Frank sighed pulling her into a janitors closet.
