As soon as she was ready and had her phone, they got in Gerard's car. He drove quickly, his hand on her thigh the entire ride. His touch was warm, unlike Floris' had been. He didn't squeeze, didn't rub, he didn't do anything. They arrived quickly. Gerard's house was small, snug. A white color had lightly layered the exterior. She unhooked the seatbelt and cautiously stepped out of the car as it came to a stop. Gerard quickly followed suit.
When they reached the door it was thrusted open by a tall, blonde woman. She looked very similar to Gerard, possibly his mom. A bright smile appeared on her face, her ruby red lips separating to show off her pearly white teeth.
Her face had been covered in a light layer of makeup that only made her bright blue eyes pop more. Gerard walked in, dragging Athena behind.
"Hey mom." He said when she suddenly engulfed him in a hug. When she pulled back her eyes darted to the younger, fidgety girl. "This is Athena." He introduced her.
She held her hand out politely waiting for Athena to shake it. She took her hand softly and lightly shook it. Her smile faltered slightly when another boy, a little younger than Gerard entered the room.
"I'm Donna." She said eyeing the other boy. "That's Mikey." She said, taking her hand from mine. Athena nodded, clinging to Gerard tightly. Her eyebrows rose at the childish behavior but quickly lowered into their original position. "You came just in time for dinner."
Gerard smiled, pulling Athena to a small livingroom. It was painted a dark red color, the furniture strictly black. There was an older man, probably Donna's husband, Gerard's dad. He had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. He had been channel surfing before they had walked in and sat on the small love seat placed against one wall of the room.
"Hey Gerard, and..." He trailed off, waiting for her name. Instead of Gerard introducing her she forced herself to get rid of her shy attitude and do it herself. Gerard smirked and looked at her, noticing her stiffen.
"Athena." She said. He nodded, turning back to the television. He quickly introduced himself as Donald as he scrolled through shows. He soon settled on a show before turning back to them.
"So you've finally found yourself a girlfriend, Gerard." Donald said, eyeing them. She turned to Gerard, awaiting his answer.
"Yeah. I guess I have." He said, pausing for a moment. "And boy is she a keeper."
Donald rose a brow, eyeing the couple before looking back at the tv. He looked a bit like Athena's father, which intimidated Athena a bit. She stayed quiet and stared at the ground as Gerard talked to his father, his hand on Athena's hip, keeping her close. Donald looked at her.
"Why aren't you talking? I don't like your accent much, but still. I can't let my son date a shy girl." He smirked, then noticed the bandages on Athena's wrists, along with cigarette burns her father had given her. "What's that?" He stood. Athena jerked back, pulling away from Gerard's grip.
"I forgot." She said quickly, choking on her words."I made plans with Frank." She mumbled, though she was lying. Gerard pulled her back to him and sighed, catching her in the lie..
"Babe you're fine." He whispered in her ear, licking the shell of it. Athena shuddered. Gerard looked at Donald. "She just got out of the hospital after getting hurt. She's still a bit jumpy." He said with a smile. Donna walked in.
"Dinner's ready." She smiled. Gerard led Athena into the dining room and sat next to her, his family across from them. Donna handed everyone their plates. When she got to Athena, she leaned into her ear. "Gee told me about what happened. If you need anything, we're here." She smiled, then walked to her chair and sat.
"So Gee finally confessed." Mikey gave a cocky smile. "It took him long enough. He talked about you constantly, Athena." He chuckled, acting like everything was normal between the two.
"Erm- I suppose that's good...?" She bit her lip, eating. Anxiety had been pumping through her veins. She wanted out. Gerard noticed and placed his hand on her thigh. She instantly calmed down.
"What was it like in Britain?" Donna asked. Athena felt her breath hitch. She slowly set her fork down, wiping her mouth off.
"Well, it's a long story. My parents are happily married, but my dad wanted to come here for business. I leave in July so I'll be at my old school for my senior year." She hesitated. "It took a lot to come here. I used to cause a lot of trouble, so I had to have a school year without getting in trouble. I was fine with grades." She shrugged. Donna smiled and nodded.
"Ah. I'm glad you changed. I would never let my son date a troublemaker." She winked at her. Ironic, he was a troublemaker. "How's school here?" She asked.
"Well, some of the classes I already took in Britain, so I got to take senior classes here. Like English and Chemistry, which is where I met Gerard. I like school here. I had a rough first month and a half, but I'm starting to like it." She smiled. Gerard kissed her cheek and smiled. Donna leaned on the table a bit.
"Well, if you like it so much, when your father moves to Britain, my husband and I will rent you an apartment with Gerard and you can finish high school here." She smiled. Athena's eyes widened.
"Mrs. Way... You don't have to do that." She whispered. Donna smiled.
"It's no problem, dear." she smiled softly.
After dinner, Gerard and Athena sat out on the porch so he could smoke. "Here." He gave her a cigarette. Athena had never smoked before, but she got the idea. She took the cancer stick and lit it. Once she was finished, she pressed it to her arm. Gerard's eyes widened. "Shit, Athena! You can't do that!" He stood worriedly. Athena just smiled, laughing softly.
"Well, I just did." She smiled innocently. Gerard rolled his eyes and pulled her up, hugging her gently.
"I'm sorry about my father. He can be a bit of a cunt sometimes." He sighed softly. Athena shook her head, messing with his hair.
"Mine's worse. Don't worry." She whispered. Gerard sighed and dropped his head, kissing her shoulder.
"That's the problem. I worry too much about you." He whispered. Athena giggled, pushing on his chest.
"Well stop it, you goof ball." She giggled before kissing him. Gerard kissed back, holding her hips.
"I love you so much." He held her close. "I love you too much to let you go, baby girl." He whispered, words like a promise. She smiled, her arms tightly around him. Her eyes closed.
"I love you, too."
