It's safe to say that Athena didn't go to see Gerard. She sat in Bert's room until they had to move him, then had Ray pick her up. She was a mess, to say the least. She couldn't stop crying, she was hysterical. Especially on the whole way home.

"What am I going to do?" She sat on the bed, holding her head. Ray sighed, rubbing her back. "I mean- I am sixteen. I could live alone, but-" She exhaled, shaking her head.

"See if you can move in with Gee when he gets out of the hospital." He suggested. Athena shook her head. She couldn't even believe that he would suggest that.

"We're fighting, I think we broke up? I don't know, he caught me giving Frank head." She mumbled. So many thoughts were going through her head, she didn't know what to do.

You're going to make a difference in this world.

Those words repeated through her head. She didn't get along with her father well, but now that he was gone, she realized how much she needed him. She remembered how close they were when she was young. She remembered how he taught her to waltz in there kitchen, how he would sing her to sleep, how he would drop her off and pick her up from school, how he would confront people whenever someone hurt her.

She took a deep breath, tears beginning to roll down her cheeks again. She started crying as she held her head in her hands, Ray immediately starting to rub her back so he could calm her down again.

It broke Ray's heart when he saw her like this. He just wanted her to be happy again. He wanted to see her smile a real smile, laugh a real laugh.

It also sucked because Frank had no idea what was happening. He knew about Gerard, but not Bert and Athena.

Ray and Frank only had each other at school, Athena and Gerard being out because of the incident.

"They could ship me back to England." Athena mumbled. Ray sighed. He hated seeing her like this. It had been hours, and she was still a mess.

"You could move in with me." He said after a few moments. "My parents won't mind, I'll explain the situation."

Athena's eyes widened, and she pounced into his arms. She loved the idea, she loved him. He was her best friend, him and Frank. And she was glad that he suggested that. She would usually tell him that the idea was. A bit much, but her mind wasn't in the right place. "Thank you so much!"

Ray chuckled, wrapping his arms around her. He buried his face into he hair, kissing her cheek. He loved having her in his arms, he loved being like this with her.

"Thank you for letting me move in, Mrs. Toro." Athena said, setting the last of her boxes in her new room. Mrs. Toro smiled.

She had always loved Athena. She thought of her as a sweet girl, like she hadn't done anything wrong. She was absolutely heartbroken when she found out about Bert, immediately taking Athena in.

"It's no problem, dear." She said as Athena sat on the foot of the bed.  "If you need anything, I'll be in the kitchen." She winked at her before exiting the room. Athena sighed, laying back on the queen sized bed. She decided that she would wait until after dinner to unpack. She turned on her phone, seeing three missed calls from Gerard. She couldn't talk to him, he caught her with his best friend. She hadn't even gone to see him, not even when he was in the hospital.

"Athena?" Ray asked, walking into her room. Athena looked up, faking a smile. She didn't want to show Ray that she was still upset, though he knew that she was. She just didn't show her true emotions to him, not wanting him to worry too much. But Ray did worry, but he didn't want to show it, not wanting her to lash out on him.

"Yeah? What's up?" Athena watched as Ray stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. He paced over to her, sitting next to her.

"I just got off the phone with Gerard. Why haven't you gone to see him?" He took her hand.

"I just..." She shrugged. "Why should I? We pretty much broke up." She looked up at him. Her usually bright eyes were dull, loss of emotion. Ray sighed. This wasn't the first time they had talked about this, and Athena always promises to go and tell to him after each conversation.

"Listen, he needs you more than ever right now. Go to him. I can drive you." He whispered softly. Athena sighed. She shook her head, biting her lip anxiously.

"Tomorrow. We'll go tomorrow." She mumbled, sighing. Ray smiled, hugging her before standing.

"I'm gonna nap. Can you tell me when dinner's done?" She crawled back on the bed, curling up under the blankets. Ray nodded.

"Yeah." He reached to turn the lights off, but Athena quickly shook her head.

"Keep the lights on." She mumbled, her eyes slowly closing. Ray furrowed his eyebrows. Ever since Bert had died, Athena had been terrified of the dark. She didn't have a reason for it, she just kind of was.

Ray never noticed this, Athena being too embarrassed to say anything. He never noticed that whenever he would sleep over, Athena would leave her door open and the hall light on, he didn't notice that she would leave the lights on in the house. He noticed, but he didn't really think about it until now.

Why was she acting like this? Athena used to love the dark, she would sit with the lights off all the time. Now that Ray was thinking about it, it was confusing him.

"Why would you want that?" He replied.

"Because," she began, "things are less scary when the lights are on."
