Cameron's P.O.V
I get out of the elevator and the first thing I hear is Melissa screaming. I take off running to her room, but see Taylor in the doorway and stop and listen. "FUCK YOU TAYLOR! GET OUT, I HATE YOU!" Mel screams, I can't see her face, but I swear she's crying. Taylor turns around, but pauses, I glare at him, and he snaps out of it and walks away.
I decide to wait to go in, so she doesn't become more upset. I walk to the nurses station, and spot Zac. I walk up to him, and ask how she is doing, and a look of pity washes over his face. "She's struggling Cameron. She woke up last night, and was quiet and only said one word. You know what word that was?" He asks, and I shake my head, "She said Cameron. When we told her you were at home her face dropped." I smile, as he says this.
"How is she doing today," I ask genuinely concerned, "has anyone found the mom yet?" I continue searching his face for answers. He shakes his head, and looks at me with pity, and I instantly understood-the mom was gone. The doctor calls his name, and he waves goodbye.
I head over to Melissa's room, and knock lightly. I get no response, so I peek around the corner and see that she is asleep. I notice that she isn't connected to any breathing machines, and I smile. I notice that this room is different from the last, more open.
I move the recliner next to her bed, and sit down turning on the t.v. finding a new episode of Supernatural. I take her hand, in mine and look at it. It was so small, filled with many callouses from many hours spent on painting, and her red nail polish was chipping slightly. I flip it over, and trace my fingers along the scars lining her wrist, crying softly.
I can't believe she did this to herself, and I wasn't there for her. I begin to lightly kiss every scar on her arm. After tracing the scars once more, I settle for holding her hand and watching the T.v.
I start to drift off, and the last thing I remember thinking is, that she makes me feel at peace, and I never want to loose her.
I fall asleep, still holding her hand, having the best sleep I've had for years.
Mel's P.O.V.
I wake up to someone holding my hand, I turn my head and see Cameron passed out on the recliner, his hand holding mine, and a small smile on his sleeping face. I bring my hand up to my mouth and kiss his hand which lays on top. I look up and see a new Supernatural episode. I look at the clock, and it reads 2:30 pm.
I press the nurses button, and Alex comes in, followed by Zac. They notice Cameron sleeping, and I point to my lips, as a symbol to please be quiet. Alex nods, and Zac comes up next to me. "I'm hungry," I whisper with a hoarse voice.
Zac grabs the menu, and lays it in front of me, and Alex gets called away to help another patient. I look over the calorie intake and settle on a boiled egg, with some water. Zac looks at me disapprovingly, because it's not much, but I just shrug. He leaves the room and places the order.
I lay back down and look out the window. I look at the sky, and get lost in it. I hear rustling next to me, and see that Cameron is tossing and turning and his face is pinched. I lean in, and whisper in his ear, "I got you, hey I got you don't worry. I'm here."
His face relaxes, and his eyes slowly flutter open. "Hey," He smiles lazily.
"Hi," I whisper, and blush. Zac comes in with my food, and sets it in front of me. It's on this huge plate, with a lid covering it so it looks like it's a lot of food when in reality, its only an egg.
Cameron notices it too, and sits up smiling. "Good, you're eating again," he says and removes the lid. His eyes sadden, and he looks at me. I look away. "Mel, please eat more," he whispers, his voice still groggy.
